Agreed. We (as in: including me) have turned into an uptight, overly criticizing lynch mob, that doesn't know when to give it all a rest.

I noticed that I enjoy the game less when I'm in a game-thread, reading all the "he shouldn't have"/"he should have"-comments. When I took a break from that, I actually enjoyed the games :P

I'll still be around in the game-thread, but I'll post/read less, and when I do i'll try to be a bit more of a positive ;)

Thanks for the reality check there, Maestro!

TP'd ya up.

The title's pretty condescending.  I can understand complaining about other poster complaining but telling them to grow up because you don't like what they're saying is a lesson you should apply to yourself.

Personally, my issue with the team has been the lack of focus and intelligent play.  Too much sloppy, careless, lackadaisical play pure and simple.   Bringing in veterans over youth is supposed to avoid exactly those types of issues.  To me, that's worth complaining about because it's something well within the players' ability to address.  Granted, that's not the bulk of the recent complaints.

The team's not too old or lacking talent.  This team, from purely a talent standpoint, is the cream of the crop in the league.  However, their recent efforts in games is sorely lacking.

I don't think that just because you are a veteran that you won't make mistakes or make the right play ever single time.

I think execution comes from experience plus practice [with each other], not just logging years in the league.

A couple of passes by Sheed went to no one or out of bounds, was more due to unfamiliarity with his teammates and where his teammates were supposed to be or going to go.

I don't think it had anything to do with lack of effort.

I think we are playing with effort.

Doc Rivers is also unfamiliar with his team and he is trying to work it all out. Did you guys see the many different number of combinations out there last night?

I don't like what their saying and I don't think it's helpful to the team. They're entitled to their opinions, and so am I. And I'm of the opinion that they need to grow up.

As for your complaints, that's perfectly fine. In my original post I addressed the issues I have a problem with. You don't fall into that bracket. How I address the issues and the manner in which I do so is my business; it was within the rules and I'll stand by my "condescending" comments.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
All I'm saying is that if you want to see a ghosttown, check out Celticsblog on a 10 game blowout winning streak.

Honestly I think this site works much better when we're losing or playing tight game after tight game. Much more interesting.

Yeah the only time my theory is proven wrong is the playoffs.

But remember the winning streak in 2007/2008? Borrrrringgggg

EDIT: Not boring to watch the games, just boring to read the posts

I agree.  Our rules provide:

Quote
Do not label fellow posters in a way that is likely to provoke a negative response.  Dependent upon context, examples include, but are not limited to, "fake fan", "bandwagon fan", "not a real fan", "hater", "homer", "koolaid drinker", etc.

I think "grow up" falls in that same category.  As such, the title has been edited.

As for my thoughts on the subject, Celticsblog welcomes fans of all persuasions.  Some of the abject negativity bothers me, but Bill Simmons gets paid a lot of money to say the same thing, and people seem to think he's some sort of super fan.

Wow. We had negativity, and this thread delivered negativity about negativity... but you take it to a whole nother level!

Negativity about positivity! :D hahaha

Well yeah obviously. Well honestly if every game was a blowout I would not like that as much but yeah, I'd trade site traffic for major winning streaks.

I'm just saying don't be surprised that people complain more when we're down and crow less when we're up. THat's the way this stuff works. That's what the site is really good for, venting about the team and discussing how you think it should improve.

understood and that's good you understand the distinction between different types of complaints with the team.  Still, I think the thread could have had a better title to get your point across.
