Still McCANTs Get Anyone to Sign Him

Rashad McCants is still out there on the free agent market. He is not the savior, and he has been discussed on these boards before, but isn't he an upgrade over Tony Allen?

I have to think Sacramento would sign and trade him for TA and cash. At this point, how much would it cost to land him? 2 years $6 million?

Attitude and defense have been issues, not ability. He just turned 25 and can score from anywhere. On this team, with these leaders, I think he could really find himself and contribute.

McCants had an invite to Houston's training camp rescinded when the Rockets learned of an abdominal surgery he suffered and has been slow to recover from.

He's talented offensively, but he seems to think he's a great player and always looks like he's trying to prove it by taking too many shots.  Maybe I'd want him if he were a few years older and aware of his talent level.  But I think he's still determined to show that he's an allstar quality player.  No thanks.

How's McCants better then TA again? Both are very injury prone. McCants is a better shooter, but he shoots at a bad percentage. TA is a better defender. The fact that McCants can't even land a guaranteed contract should be telling.

There is much more to the story that you are not aware. McCants issues aren't attitude or defense.....his primary issue is mental illness that causes him to be unpredictable and had his Carolina teammates trying to get him help......or off their team during the Heels championship seasson.

It's been long suspected that McCants suffers from bi-polar disorder but it is a fact that he has alienated his teammates in the past due to being a distraction.  Sad story for a talented ballplayer but he certainly isn't needed around here......he makes Tony Allen look like John Stockton from a mental stability standpoint.

I had a friend who played with him in prep school. Swore he was one of the nicest guys he's ever met.

I still don't want him, but apparently he's a nice guy.
