I have to admit that I am extremely impressed with BBD and his conditioning improvements this offseason. With the people signed that would potentially take a lot of his minutes I felt he would be a little bummed and not work as hard. Especially since he got his new contract. Instead he goes out and does what many of us on here felt he really needed to. Replace fat with muscle. That picture on the front page a day or so with him sitting in a chair shows you just how hard he worked. Hopefully it will translate into continued production. Nice job BBD. Your minutes this year will definitely be more than they would have been had you come back chubby. I didn't think it was going to happen and I hope you don't let off the throttle. Don't get complacent and you can have a nice 10-12 year career. Man I love our depth at the big man spots.

Yeah, it's VERY promising to see Baby veer away from the Oliver Miller/Mel Turpin/Mike Sweetney career path.  He's always gonna be a big guy, but he's shown a real commitment to improve his conditioning and shape.  For a guy who's just gotten his first real contract, it's a great sign.

I think Davis was smart to test the FA market this year. I think he was even smarter to come back to Boston. He realized that this is where he has found success. This is where he will continue to grow as a player. This is where his future will be and another couple of realistic chances at NBA Championships.

I think he may be the starter at the PF beside Kendrick Perkins on this team in 3 years or less. I really like his chances.

I agree as well that it was smart to have him test the market because I think it gave him a reality check. I disagree though that he will be the starting PF after KG unless he makes some pretty dramatic jumps in core skills. Can you realistically see your starting PF be a poor rebounder, poor shot blocker, poor post player, and mediocre outside shooter? That's a lot of poor's. His lack of vertical will really hurt his ability to start IMO on a solid team, however I bet it is better than it was last year due to the improved conditioning. I think his role is pretty clear, and that is a good backup PF and sometimes C off the bench. It appears that what the rest of the league believes as well or else someone would have thrown down more cash at him. I like him off the bench though, especially for the money we signed him to.

I thought this would a thread for people that believe "Doc doesn't play the young players when they deserve it"  to fess up and eat crow now that Pruitt was cut from the Knicks.

I'll be the first in line on that admission.

Did BBD get a new longer contract??  I thought he was just gonna be hanging around this season so he could be an unrestricted FA next offseason.

$6.3 mil for 2 years with weight related bonuses totalling about $500k per year if he hits all the bench marks I think.

I'm glad we are giving Baby some praise today because his LSU Tigers are going to get ripped up tonight.   ;D

Let's see if I eat some crow now.  Roll Tide!
