Clearly, the "Winner in the Long Run" is the Celtics with Paul Pierce.  Not surprised though.

I dunno, i can kinda see thier point.

The winners category was as a team benefiting from the draft, not a certain player

they actually rate paul higher than vince and way higher than lewis, as you can see in the re-draft where paul went second overall behind dirk.

The point of that award was what team has benefited the most from that draft as of right this moment. We have one extremely good player from the 98' draft, the magic have two.

To argue we should have won that category, we'd have to contend that paul pierce as a asset to a team is better than lewis and carter COMBINED as an asset.

Paul is far and away better than either of them, but im not sure he'd beat them in a game of 2 on 1.

I actually have more problems with them saying dirk is the better player than paul, but that's defend able, big men value > wings value as a general rule.

I don't get it, Orlando didn't draft either Carter or Lewis.. How could they be long run winners for the draft?

They are just counting who is currently benefiting the most from the 98' draft's talent pool as of the time the article was written.

Orlando has those two under contract, therefore they are benefiting.

I can see your point, but my feeling is, if the later on rank Pierce higher than Carter it seems a bit illogical.  But if you combine the two, I suppose.
