Powe wasn't going to get the LLE before his big injury, there ain't no way he's going to get it now. This is all BS from his agent, he will be lucky to get a contract for the vet min with any team
I disagree, before he hurt his knee again he was in line to get a contract as big as BBD.

I think he was set to get a bigger contract because I saw him being a credible NBA starter much more than Big Baby.

agreed, they are different types of undersized pf's but powe to me is a solid guy off the bench (barring injuries) who could have a long steady career AND start for some nba teams

Ugggh, I'm soooooooo tired of all the Powe obsessing. This guy's knee is tissue paper!! Get over it! Who cares if he goes to the Cavs?? I sure don't..

edit - no offensive language - wdleehi

I feel the same way.  But it's kind of funny to see people obsessing over an injured player that might not ever be effective again. ::)

Powe's agent is asking for two year with the second year at Powe's option so he can opt out and become an unrestricted free agent without Bird or Early Bird rights being held by the team that signs him.

So Powe is injured and as much as prognostications say he might be back for late February, it is more likely, given the scope of his injuries, that he will not be the Leon Powe that has been so effective for Boston for well over a year. So Leon is looking for more than the minimum and after he rehabs on someone else's dime he wants to be able to have the option to leave after that year and never give that team any return for their invested dollar.

Good luck with that Leon. It's no wonder that the Celtics have moved on. It's called stupid, bad business and Danny won't do it.

Who were the people on this blog that said Powe would be reasonable than Baby in his contract demands because he was a great guy?

People say lots of silly things. Probably the same posters who wanted him to succeed and leave the C's so he could blossom into an all-star on another team while getting paid.  ::)

What does people saying he would be reasonable in his contract demands have to do with wanting him to succeed?

I think its silly to expect him to be an all-star.

I was referring to some posters who wanted Powe to get off a team with Garnett because it was holding him back. Which I view as ridiculous, Garnett hasn't held Powe back.

Powe has the heart to play and compete, but sadly, he may be done for his career.
He will be remembered for his play in the NBA FINALS - Game 2.

I think I speak for everyone here in saying that Leon will always be revered, like James Posey for his role in Banner 17.

:( I'd rather have Leon come back here when he can play again.

On that note, do you think it was a mistake for the Celtics to not resign Leon?
