The thing with Starbury is that if he is as cracked as he appears to be on his webcasts, he's been that way for at least the past few years.  If it's all just an act, then it really doesn't matter.  Either way, it means that there's nothing in those webcasts to suggest that he can't come back next year and provide at least what he did last year.

Isn't that the point?  A lot of people don't want him to provide what he did this past season.  They want substantially more, as last year was not good.

I'll grant you that.  But I think he is capable of more.  He clearly proved that he can fit into the team concept, his real problem was being aggressive enough.  I think that can be overcome.  If he can overcome that, is there really a more talented PG out there available for cheap money?  I don't think so.

we should be applauding steph for what he did to the knicks. Anyone who can destroy a NY team should not be hated.
But I would still take him on the cheap if available.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I think that, If Steph would re-sign; he would be the backup pointguard with the most potential of doing well than anyone else.
Bobby Jackson, Jason Williams, and others are solid; but Steph used to be a star.

If someone told you a few years ago that KG, Pierce, Suga' Ray, Rasheed Wallace, and Stephon Marbury were on a team together, and RW and Steph were on the bench, would you have believed them?

Sure he's crazy, but he used to be a hell of a ball player, and I say give him another season on proving that he can still play.
I'd rather not. Between his antics and his second worst in the NBA field goal percentage we should declare the Marbury experiment over.

jackson's used to being a spark off the bench. marbury's used to spending the whole night with the ball in his hands. we saw how well did with ltd minutes...

We need a better option than Marbury at the back up PG spot

Marbury played just as bad when he started last year.  He was either rusty or cooked.  I don't think anything had to do with his role.

  • There can only be one.

And we're not going to find that in the crowd of scrub PG's out there.

Marbury's shot was the only thing that wasn't working for him last year.  He ran the offense well, played hard on D, and created no problems in the locker room.  He can get into the paint consistently, and force the opposition's defense to collapse.  When that happens Ray, Paul, Eddie, Sheed et al will have a field day shooting 3s.  I thought the ball moved really well when Stephon was in the game last year.  I'm all for bringing him back.  Remember his reunion with KG remains unfulfilled at this point.  They never played a minute together last year.

As far as his sanity goes, I doubt he's gotten any crazier over the summer.  Danny has the 'Brain Doctor' in his corner to weed out the undesirable personalities.  No way Danny would have signed him last year unless Dr. Niederangel (?) was on board with the move.

People keep talking about his reunion with KG. They played together for two short years a long time ago. I wouldn't count on that to revive Marbury's production.

Also getting into the paint doesn't mean much if you can never finish. Marbury never converted his penetration into scores unless he was fouled. Eventually people will play the pass if you can't make your layups. Same thing happened to Rondo when he just keep penetrating to pass his second year.
