I'm remembering a Friday night game in Cleveland where we got absolutely waxed...and KG was healthy

And I'm remembering a game in which we
beat them by 11 points (105-94) without KG.

I hear ya, man, I just think we would have had an extremely difficult time stealing a game in Cleveland(which is what we would've had to do)

Unfortunately, the C's havent had much(if any) success in that building
Two years ago we should have won a game there. Ray Allen had two free throws to win it, and bricked them both.

TP. I remember that game.  :'(

So, as a Cavs fan (not just Lebron) I will add a little Cleveland perspective.

Relegating Z to the bench is perfect.  Z is a major defensive liability against any team with an interior presence.  Just look at how many points in the paint the Cavs gave up against ORL, BOS and LAL.  Shaq pretty much takes care of that problem single handedly.  Shaq will now command a double team which will help Lebron get free.  It will also allow Mo, Delonte and Carter to get open for 3.  Anyone who thinks that Shaq will clog the lane obviously didn't watch him play with Kobe and D Wade.  Shaq definitely helped them, he didn't hurt them.

Shaq also provides a big finisher in the paint.  Think about all the times Lebron got doubled and had NO ONE on the inside to get the ball to so he would kick it out for a 3.  Well, now he can draw the double team and dish to Shaq for an inside finish.  Much more efficient.

Carter and Moon have the size to guard an outside wing taking some pressure off of the Cavs other smaller guards.  In the Orlando example, this would leave Lebron to cover Lewis, LBJ will still cover Pierce against Boston.

As for Lebron leaving next year....never going to happen.  He will not take less money to go to a non-playoff team.  I actually think he is much more likely to take his player option after next year and wait to see if the cap goes back up in 2011.

Unfortunately for Cleveland, Perk does not need a double team to keep Shaq in check and Rasheed will be Z's matchup against Boston with the 2nd unit.

Z will never be covering Rasheed, guaranteed.  If worst comes to worst, LEbron would rotate over and Moon would cover Pierce.

I can't wait to see Perk go one on one against Shaq.  I am sure he will shut him down.   ::)

To be honest
he will
really
shaq isnt shaq anymore
hes slow and slow and losing his shot for practice
and Perk is only getting better

I understand your optimism as a Cle fan
but right now even BBD can push Shaq a couple of inches away
age is a heavy load to carry on profesional sports

Shaq averaged 16.5 points and shot 50% from the field against Boston last year for a weak Suns team.  I know Perk did an excellent job against Howard last year, but Shaq has an offensive game outside of dunking (unlike Howard).

weak Suns team just givesthe ball more to shaq.
they had a better pg to feed him too.
Bron and Mo ask for his share of balls
he will be more a defensive help than an offensive one
Fear the injuries.

Shaw averaged 13 shots a game against BOS last year.  That's not a lot, and right aboout where he probably will be with the Cavs.  Shaq is actually in shape this year (contract year).

Cavs dominated Sheed last year.  Z can shoot right over him, AV gets under his skin, consider me not worried.  I think Sheed definitely addresses your depth and will help some with defense but he can;t guard Shaq alone

well
i dont think we will accept the other one is right
and to be honest there are too many subjective things going on in both teams
i really think sheed wont play as a center most of the times
hes our insurance policy for KG
we still need a C and i think we are getting him
as long as the rosters arent complete its imposible to talk rotation
matchups
other than 1 to 6 or 7
but not positional matchups
apples and oranges

Shaq had good numbers against the C's 18 and 8 on good shooting. I think he'll be effective, but Perkins plays good enough post defense to not change the overall matchup.

Which means that the C's and the Cavs will still likely play a ton of close games with the home team winning almost all of them.

Sheed doesn't give Z any problems though. At least not in the last 3 playoff series they played against Wallace. Usually Wallace likes to play the instigator role but more times than not Cleveland gets the best of him. And im not trying to sound like a homer. I really don't care for Z at all.
