he's pretty old, but I remember his Cleveland and even his Charlotte days. I loved having him in fantasy basketball, kind of forgot about him over the years. He's a horrible 3 point shooter, but he's a very active defender, he is good at distributing the ball, his assist numbers have always been very high, it always overrated his value a bit but he always made solid decisions taking very little risk.

Bad primary backup guard, very good third string point guard.

No need for him on this team. Plus, I don't like the idea of having a backup point guard who can't shoot the ball. I think Rondo needs a shooter behind him.

but isn't that what we will have we keep pruitt?

I was thinking a platoon role with Gabe Pruitt, and whoever plays better gets the minutes, kind of like how he battled vs. Ronnie Price all of last year.

Truthfully I like Pruitt alot but I still think we need one veteran option at pg to platoon with him in the beginning and hopefully he will prove that hes good enough to be the primary backup.

Pretty much ... why switch Pruitt for a veteran if he isn't a clear upgrade?

I prefer Pruitt too, because he's a vastly superior defensive player and a much better shooter too, which I think makes him a better fit on this team.

I hesitate to ask this because there's usually nothing more useless than a forum poster's evaluation of someone's defense, but what on earth gives you the impression that Pruitt is a better defender than Knight?

I think Pruitt is a better defender than most point guards. I think he's very good defensively, and did a superb job in the minutes he played last season. He has great quickness and great size+length. He does a very good job of keeping the ball in front of him and making the shooter shoot over the top, while strongly contesting the shot. The Celtics defense looked better when he was on the floor, and opposing point guards did worse.

I think Brevin Knight is a great ball hawk, but a below average defender overall. Opposing point guards have routinely had big nights against him for the past several years. His lack of size hurts him defensively.

Well 82games stats pretty clearly seem to not be on your side.  Jazz gave up 12 fewer points a game with Knight on the floor, while Celtics were marginal at best with Pruitt on the floor.  per48 floortime +/- isn't my favorite stat, because it depends so much on your teammates adn you you're playing with, but Knight certainly had some impressive numbers defensively

I would take Brevin Knight in a heartbeat, but I seem to remember hearing rumors of him being a pain in the locker room, that may be why the C's have never shown any interest in him.

I don't understand the fascination with Brevin Knight in this board.

I did, and yes, they're fantastic defensive numbers ... but look at his numbers in each of his previous four seasons, with the Clippers and with the Bobcats.

Opposing PERs of 20.3, 17.7, 17.4, 19.4 -- throughout his career, Brevin Knight has given up big nights to opposing point guards with regularity.
