This trade would open up money for the jazz to resign millsap.

How so? Trade Machine is telling me that Utah is $7M over the cap. They would have to save $7M just to start freeing up cap space. Or am I missing something?
They actually don't need cap space to sign Milsap.

They just need to dump $ to avoid lux tax.

Ah, yes. Good call.

Seconded on the "wanting no part of Rip Hamilton's contract".

Personally, I feel that Ray Allen has regressed a lot less than Rip Hamilton.  Don't care about age on that one.

Yah, I guess thats a good point. Although I think Rip's contract might be slightly over criticized. I think it looked ridiculous because the pistons offered it just as they began their rebuilding.

But he's only 31, and if you believe the pistons situation effected Rasheed Wallaces effort, you gotta give rip the benefit of the doubt as well.

Still, the trades unlikely, just a boring day and I thought this trade was semi-plausable.

This trade does not make sense for Utah. Give up all that for Ray Allen??? :'( They already have Korver. I won't do this. And last Sac is no longer interested, remember they have Jason Thompson and Spence Hawes now. When they were interested those guys hadn't played yet and the celtics wanted Brad Miller within that trade not just Nocioni

Even though this trade sucks for Utah still if TMed I mean Tmac lol isn't healthy.

Not a bad thought process.  C's take a slight decline in the starting lineup and a significant improvement on the bench at the wing and PG spot.  That's definitely a positive.

On the downside, Ray is better than Rip for distance shooting, FTs (although Rip's pretty solid at the charity stripe too) and game-winning shots.  C's also take a hit in frontcourt depth losing BBD.

If the C's had signed Powe where he'd be available mid-season to play again I'd feel better about shipping out BBD

not a realistic trade at all.  doesn't give Utah or Sacto what they need or want.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Actually this trade gives Utah exactly what it wants:  no more Boozer and considerable luxury tax releif, both this year and next.

And why wouldn't Sacramento want that package for the aging and expensive Nocioni?  They are a rebuilding team, not a playoff team.

The only problem with this trade is that it is too complicated to happen in reality.  I prefer a simpler deal: Boozer to Detroit, Rip and CJ Miles to Boston, Ray Allen to Utah.  No, Rip isn't as good as Ray and has a longer deal, but Rip is pretty good and C.J. Miles makes up the difference.  I would also take Ronnie Brewer instead of Miles.

Does it really make a difference when we are in win now mode? A worse starter and slightly better bench? I myself am not so sure, and Ray most importantly has the endurance to play point with the bench, which Rip doesn't do as well. Rip also doesn't shoot the 3 ball as well or as often, which what a lot of our offense is predicated upon.

For those of you saying Boston takes on salary that is false (if I know the BYC well enough):

Quote
Outgoing Salary
Ray Allen- 18.7 Million/1 Year
Glen Davis- 2 Million/4 year (Actually signed to 4 mill deal, BYC rules)
Total Outgoing- 20.7 Million

Incoming Salary
Rip Hamilton- 11.3 Million/4 Years
Andres Noccioni- 7.5 Million/3 Years
C.J. Miles- 3.7 Million/2 Years
Total Incoming- 22.5 Million

In the trade we would be "taking on money" because of the BYC (50% cap hit for us, 100% cap hit for other team). So for us we would be trading $22.7 million in real salary and receiving $22.5 million. Actually saving $200K.

That being said. HELL NO.
