He's good enough, but he needs to get that cocky attitude that House, Rondo, KG, Sheed, Ray allen, and almost the whole rest of the team has. I think minutes would help but you have to take the minutes not expect them. Pruitt needs to force Doc to play him. He could also back up the two. He has all the tools to be a good combo guard off the bench. This is it, if he can't grab some minutes early in the year with hard nosed play he's probably gone.

When we won in 2007, Rondo was not nearly as good of a player as he is now, but he was still able to hold down the fort. We came into the season believing that he would be good enough because when you have KG, PP, and Ray, you don't need a dominant point guard. You just need someone to play defense and bring the ball down the court. Pruitt can definitely play that role for 10min a game.

The Lakers won last year with Fisher, Farmar and Brown. They have won 4 times with Fisher as their starting point guard. Thats all the proof that I need to be very happy with Rondo, House, Pruitt, and Ray (for a few min a game).

I haven't read the whole thread ... but I'm very happy with Eddie House being the backup guard, and happy with Gabe Pruitt being the third string point guard.

I would be very uncomfortable depending on Pruitt to be the primary backup guard. He hasn't shown enough for that role.

i'm not sure about pruitt. i can't grasp if he has the handle to play at point. i love his shot, and i really think he'll be very good on defense.i think he could be great out there for kickouts in the halfcourt. but again, it's his handle. if it's just a confidence issue then i think he just needs minutes.
i'm glad this one is up to the coach and i'm not sure what else is out there. i don't like the idea of tyrone lue.

The way I see it, Pruitt is currently the primary backup AND the third string point guard.

What I mean by this is that when the second unit is on, they'll use Pruitt is the primary PG backup. If Rondo gets injured, Eddie House will be the one getting the starting nod at backup PG while Pruitt remains in the same role in the bench. This also means, that when things get tough and Rondo is not available, it would be Eddie House playing PG, while Pruitt is still on the bench. Also, House would be the first guard off the bench regardless if it's Ray or Rondo going to the bench first.

Pruitt is 'turrible!' as Barkley would say.  But Eddie is actually our fallback plan at PG.  So even though Eddie is not a true point, he's better than Gabe.  Backup point IS a need, which is why I wish we had drafted Chalmers instead of D-league Giddens.  But who knows.  Maybe Giddens will surprise me and cut it as our backup 3......  ::)

I like Gabe.
I would like to see him play the 2 WITH Rondo.
They could realy push the ball.
Danny said he wanted to push the ball.
I think he gets 10 to 15 min a game this year.
We realy need to see what he can do before we make that $ decision with Rondo.
Maybe giddens or walker at the 3 and 4 then R Wallace at the 5.
It could be entertaining, during blowouts.

Even though Pruitt isn't ready to be the primary backup, I don't think it's the end of the world if we end of playing both House and Pruitt as the backup pg's.

Truthfully, even if we bring in someone like Tyronn Lue, Kevin Ollie,  I don't think they would be much of an upgrade anyways.

Some players I wouldnt mind at the minimum is Anthony Carter, Royal Ivey or maybe even Anthony Johnson. Stephon Marbury would be ideal but for some reason even after 100 million dollar in career earnings he is still a money Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline..
