The Celtics are also expected to have the services of Glen Davis, who suffered a mild right ankle sprain in a loss to Golden State Monday. He sat out Wednesday's loss to the Suns, but practiced Friday and said he'll suit up against Toronto.

Davis did note that it's actually his shooting hand, as he continues to recover from surgery for a fractured right thumb, that remains his biggest issue, maybe even more so than his ankle.

Gloom and Doom?

Just think what an opportunity this is for the young guns. We suffered through whole seasons with a starting line ups that were worse than this. What is a few games!

I am looking forward to see what our bench is really made of. Sheed definitely needs to turn it around and Eddie and Tony need to have strong games to take the pressure off of Ray Ray; but should be fun. Lester can put up points as well.

Doc Rivers

"KG's still 10 days, maybe, I don't know," said Rivers. "I have no idea, I honestly don't. There is some history with hyperextended knees that we kind of know that it takes at least two weeks, sometimes three. We know it won't be longer than that, but we don't know how quickly. There's a history there -- not with [Garnett] -- but with league history."

Pierce had second procedure
E-mail|Link|Comments () Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff January 2, 2010 06:23 PM

Celtics captain Paul Pierce said he had a second procedure to clear an infection from his right knee last week after the first was unsuccesful. There is no timetable for Pierce's return, though it is not expected that the extra procedure will keep him out substantially longer than originally thought.

(...)

Pierce, who had his knee wrapped as he spoke to reporters, said he has not even started jogging following the second procedure, which took place last Friday, Christmas night.

(...)

He said the first arthroscopic procedure did not actually find the infection, which is why he went back to the hospital for a second surgery. The second procedure did find and treat the infection. Pierce is currently taking oral antibiotics, down from the intravenous antiobiotics he took every day last week.

Doctors did not officially determine the source of the infection, but they speculated it could have come from a cut he got on his toe in the locker room last Tuesday.

I'm not worried about Paul but I'm seriously starting to have concerns about KG... we all know where his prolonged absence led last year when nothing was "serious".

As long as sheed is around KG injuries worries me less than PPs one

I agree with you but still, we must have KG healthy for the playoffs and I don't want to see a repeat of last year as far as his treatment goes.

Doc is being very cautious and I like this mindset/strategy but I hope he is being honest when he says 10 more days and that this is not a long-term injury or something serious.

Actually the "I don't know" quote scaries me because in 10 days I could see Doc saying "It will be one month longer, obviously, KG is rehabbing well but we're just being cautious, you know, it's nothing long-term but sometimes it's just bad luck" and blah blah.

I know i thought the same
still a lot of time to go
and the  momment of the injury doesnt seems ...that...serious
like last time

Sheed time will only help him is somehow he stays motivated

fingers crossed
