But Big Papi has 12 home runs.

Looks like he has found his stroke.  Hope he keeps it up.

Go Sox!

I'm just happy that all the "TIED FIRST PLACE!" facebook statuses from my Yankee friends only lasted a day.

Do you remember like 10 years ago when the thought of the Sox being WITHIN 5 games of the yanks was a big deal to the yankee fans.  now, they get excited to be tied for first.  Oh, how the mighty have fallen. haha.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Could not be happier for guy.  Count me in the column of people who whole-heartedly thought he was D-O-N-E, done.  I could not be happier that he is starting to prove me wrong.

anyone watch the game today? or at least look at the box score... forget josh becket's shutout (even tho it was amazing)... What impressed me the most was Jason Bay's stat line- 0-0, 3BB, 2 HBP... how do you do that?

Freaky line.  Help out the ol' OBP.

I once had a game in Senior Babe Ruth where I was walked 4 times on 17 pitches.  Saw 1 strike the whole game.  And it wasn't like I was a big enough threat to pitch around - the pitcher just sucked!
Yup

Yes I remember this quite well.  I remember an astounding fear every time we played them, just expecting to lose.  TP to you my friend for being absolutely correct.  They aren't the goliath they once were.

Didnt wanna start a new thread for this, but Francona just said Buchholz will be starting Friday. I am pleased, he needs to be in the majors and if he pitches good i hope it means Penny will be dealt. Though its very possible he is up to be showcased for a bigger trade, we'd better get something VERY good back if we are to deal him. The Blue Jays had 2 scouts in Pawtucket today to watch Buchholz including Riccardi's special assistant, im pretty sure Buchholz first start being in Toronto is only going to fuel the Halladay rumors.

Rotoworld says Clay will go back down after this start but id like to see him as their #5 the rest of the way and deal Penny instead though i dont think the Sox will. A second half rotation of Beckett/Lester/Wakefield/Smoltz/Buchholz with Dice-K as a wildcard would make me very happy. Beckett is obviously dominating over the last 2 months and Lester has been as good as anybody in baseball since later May. Since then he has gone 5-1 with a 1.48 era, a whip barely over 1, and 69 K's in 54 innings, thats pretty good.

It probably does deserve its own thread as there are bound to be lots of posts about Halladay going forward.

That being said, I am not getting that excited about the possibility of acquiring Roy yet.  there are going to be so many rumors, that it drives me nuts following it this early.  There is so much gamesmanship that goes on, the Jays may not have even talked to the sox about this, but sending a scout to watch Buch certainly ups the ante for anyone who is talking to the jays.

The Sox have already given their reason for having Buch come up (and it makes sense).  They want a 6th starter in case Beckett and Wake pitch in the all star game, and then need an extra day.

So we'll see.  Let the rampant speculation begin
