I keep hearing all these ideas to bring in players who are at most marginally better than what we already have. While the Celtics are more than willing to spend for the right players, they do not want to be paying luxury tax for players who are not an appreciable upgrade over people we already have on the team.

I just don't see any names out there, that we can actually get, who would be better than an improving Giddens or Walker.

Couldnt agree more. Does anyone forget the Stackhouse of the past few seasons? Sure, he's score in double digits, but at a disgustingly low efficiency (40% shooting, 29% 3pt, rarely gets to the line). He's a volume shooter whose never been good on defense. He's basically a slightly less turnover prone TA if we gave him more shots.

Remember, anything we pay is going to be double due to the tax. We have to be sure that whatever we get has the ability to play 20-25 minutes a night behind pierce and ray, and is a marginal improvement over Giddens/Walker/Allen
