If you grew up in NYC would you be a Mets fan or a Yankees fan?

Depends on where in the city you grew up and who the important people in your life rooted for.  If the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn, I'd root for them (alongside the Sox) because that's who my grandfather loved.

i could have been born on home plate at yankee stadium and i would still despise the yankees. i really have nothing against the mets, but am old enough to remember 1986, so they are out too. most new yorkers just flip flop between the two teams, depending on who is doing well on any given day.

Assuming I was born in or around New York, I'd have to say the Mets without bias. I'm a big Johan Santana fan, and while I do rock pinstripes pretty impressivly, I like the Mets logo better, and the team's color scheme.

Luckily I've lived in New England all my life and I don't have these choices to make. Boston for the major league stuff, Portland for the minors.

Seeing as I grew up in R.I. and am a Yankee fan, I'd say I'd be a Yankee fan.

I didn't grow up in NYC, but I had an uncle who lived in Queens. When I was a kid we went to a Mets game. They lost 1-0. It was brutal. Still, the Mets became my National League team.

In 1985, I dragged my girlfriend to a Mets game. We bought tix from a scalper on the Hutch. The Let's-Goes won 3-2 on an RBI single from Keith Hernandez in the bottom of the ninth.

If nothing else I liked Shea Stadium. Easy to get off the highway, near LaGuardia, parking must have been OK. I can't think of anything good to say about the Yankees.

I am a Mets fan.

Of course, no one knows who they would like in an alternate universe since we don't really choose the things we like. I suppose if someone is a front runner, they would have an idea of what they would end up liking.
