I know I am going to get killed for this one, but is it possible.  Look I'm as much as a Rondo fan as most of you are out there but doesn't that trade make sence for the team.( Gay and Conley for Rondo and Scal )  look with Hill possibly going to NY,  isn't this a better option.  I think Gay would be sick as our sixth man, plus he would be a preperation for life without (possibly) Allen for the future.  As for Conley,  I know Rondo has freakish skill that won't be duplicated,  but is Conley that much of a drop off ?  Mind you I have not seen enough of Conley, and basing this more off #'s and the fact that he is a pass 1st PG.
All that said,  Not sure where that trade rumor died but is it a possibility ?

It sounds like on draft night the most we offered Memphis was Kendrick Perkins straight up for the #2 pick.

I think maybe it's more likely that we move Kendrick Perkins than Rondo... seeing as Sheed could start.  Not that it's actually likely... just probably "more" likely.

Why do this? Rudy Gay probably signs with us next year. Rudy/Rondo/Perk futuristic.

I'm surprised that this isn't a bigger story. The fact that we tried to trade Perkins.

I think Perk had the best stretch of his career during the playoffs.  He was solid and consistent.  He averaged 12 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks with 57% shooting.  Just fantastic.   But perhaps Danny rightfully realizes the possibility that both Rondo and Perk have their trade value at a peak right now... and that now might be the time to cash in.

I hope both Rondo and Perk continue to progress... but it's just as likely that they were playing out of their butts and both will revert to "ok" during the regular season.  Maybe there was someone there at #2 that Ainge knew was going to be better.   It's like when we almost traded Pierce for the #3 pick a few years back.  That pick would have been Chris Paul.

Where are we getting the money to pull that off?

Do you think Thabeet would be better? Remember at the time we didn't know that we would be able to get Sheed.

this thread just slipped through a crack in a different dimension.  Mild hiccup.  Don't stress it.

I would not mind that trade. You get a future replacement for Ray and a competant replacement for a PG you may be losing soon anyways...

If Rondo goes out, CP3 or Deron Williams is coming in.  Conley would make a nice backup, although I expect he is being peddled to the Blazers.

I hope not.  I like Conley and I can see the appeal of Gay, but Rondo is better than both of them, despite his shortcomings.  I don't see either Grizzly making anywhere near the impact Rondo does for this team.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

No...End of discussion.

Why would we trade a 23 year old all star potential, triple double threat, four years away from his prime point guard for a "sick 6th man"... How does that make "sence" for this team?  ::)

Terrible, unfounded rumor perpetuated more than it should have during draft time and only continued :)
