We need to resign bbd... i'm glad nobody else wants him. With rasheed height we can live with bbd's lack of size.

Now if we can only get a wing off the bench that can do something besides hit a wide open jumper!

I'd like a wing who can hit a wide open jumper over the guy we have who can't (i.e., Tony Allen). But yes, one who can hit a wide open jumper and has the size to defend 3s is ideal.
Go Celtics.

I think the biggest news again is that it looks like Baby is not that sought after. Would love for the C's to get Baby on the cheap.
If he gets no offers and the C's offer a 3 million x 3 year deal, does BBD take the QO or the 3x3?

That would be a tough decision for him, I bet.  The question with the qualifying offer is, will he earn enough money next year as an unrestricted free agent to make up for the raise he'd get this year?

If he passes on a three year, $10 million deal for a 1 year, $1 million deal, he'd have to get at least 2 years at $9 million next off-season to break even.  Next off-season -- after a season spent playing limited minutes as the fourth big man -- is any team likely to offer him $4.5 million per season?  I don't think so.

Did we offer him 3 and $3? That would be a good deal for him. For us, it'd probably be better just to leave the QO out there unless we have to match a 3 and $3 offer (which would work for us in that scenario I think). That way, we minimize luxury concerns this year and have full Bird rights to negotiate with him next year, even though we'd lose the right to match offers.
Go Celtics.

Quick question. Why was it ok to give Scal a 5 yr 15 million dollar contract, but people are hesitant to give BBD a 3 yr 10 million dollar deal?

If BBD were to take the QO would that grant him bird-rights next offseason?

That 5 year, $15 million Scal contract was widely panned around here, not a good example. I don't think anybody considers that a good decision.
Go Celtics.

He already has Bird rights. It would make him unrestricted next summer.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before? But I'm surprised that the Trailblazers aren't more interested, as opposed to over paying David Lee or Lamar Odom.

I suspect Davis would be a nice back up 4 for them. He could help their interior defense, hit some of the same shots Aldridge does, and play alongside either Greg Oden or Lamarcus.

Anyway, I'd be thrilled to have him back for 3 years $9 million.

Two things:

1) Very few people supported the Scal contract.  One mistake shouldn't be used to justify another (if it is indeed a mistake);

2) I haven't seen many people say we shouldn't offer 3 years, $10 million.  It's when you start getting above $4 million per season where I've seen more disagreement.

We have his "Early Bird" rights, rather than full-Bird.  That prevents us from giving him a contract for more than the MLE.
