THANK YOU LEON!

Ok this thread is to pay thanks to Leon's three years with the Celtics. It's not a place to debate offering a contract or not. There are plenty of threads to debate that. Obviously many of us want Leon back in green, but for now let's simply say thank you. No debates in here. We can all agree that Leon was one of the 12 that got us number 17. Leon deserves our appreciation and this thread is a place where Celtics fans can show that.

Leon was drafted in the second round and made an impact his rookie year. During his second season he was the main big off the bench and had some huge playoff games, most notably game 2 versus the Lakers. Leon was a key component in the C's making it back to the Finals after all these years and bringing home #17. In his third season, Leon won the 6th Star Award and really stepped up when KG and Baby were hurt. Also, thank you Leon for giving it a go against the Bulls when we were so shorthanded. You exemplify what a Celtic should be. Your off the court community/charity work shows that you are a great man as well. Thank you Leon.

This thread is a great idea, TP!

I don't have much to add, except that I really love Leon. I was re-watching game 2 of the 2008 Finals earlier today and it's still great fun and pleasure to see Leon destroy the Fakers with big consecutive dunks at the end of the 3rd quarter. I already knew Leon at the time and liked his game, but wow, this stretch and his performance in game 2 were really some classic performance from him.

He is a great guy both on and off the court, he had to live in terrible situations, and managed to get through. I know this topic is juste made to show our appreciation for Leon but it feels strange to say "Thank you" as if we will never see him again in a green uniform. Hopefully he will resign with us when healthy.

Anyway thanks for all your brought to the team Leon, both for the Finals, the playoffs, and last regular season, especially in KG's absence. I wish he didn't get injured but it happened... wish him the best for his rehab and his future!

PS : I love Leon's now famous quote "They tell me can I can't save anybody. But I say "I will try. I'll try to save everybody."

In the short amount of time he played for us, simply became one of my all time favorite Celtics. Not just by the numbers he did or didn't put up. Just the all round act that was Leon powe.

The Hustle
The toughness
The Team spirit
The guts
The class
The character
The story that's his story..

Love the guy as a Celtic, he embodies that phrase "He's a perfect Celtics type player".

Leon is the definition of Celtic Pride in my book.

I really, really hope he comes back.

Thanks, Leon.  You are an exemplary role player - one who is all business on the court.  While your minutes were inconsistent and limited at times, you never expressed discontent and were always ready to give 110%.

It's unfortunate that injuries continue to hamper your career, but you handled the business component of basketball in stride.  Your story through life is well chronicled, and your charity work deserves the praise it gets.

Best of luck to you - heal up, be healthy and happy.  Thanks for bringing #17 home.
God bless and good night!
