League sources tell me that Rasho Nesterovic, Channing Frye, Jason Collins and Jamaal Magloire have all drawn interest from the Wizards.

All four are unrestricted free agents, who remain on the market and are expected to have to settle for paydays in the neighborhood of the veterans minumum.

By all accounts Frye is a good kid (and therefore a match with our Ubuntu fighting style). He's not the greatest rebounder but not horrible and is long and a decent shot blocker and a legit NBA player (ie. not a POB/Swift-like project) with some decent offensive skills.

Won't ever make an all-star team, but can/will be a solid contributor on a good team.

I'd be interested in any of those four bigs for vet minimum money.

Lucky, I'd rank them thusly:

1. Channing Frye

2. Jason Collins (though he's coming back from injuy)

3. Nesterovic

4. The chair that Yi dominated in his predraft workouts

5. Jamaal Magloire

If the chair has wheels on it, I rank it 3rd, since it's probably more mobile than Rasho at this point. LOL.

I really like Channing Frye, but I'd like Powe better. Everyone needs an underdog.

I like Magloire or Collins as the 6th big, behind Scal and whoever fills the #4 big slot. That said, I'd prefer to have Leon Powe than both of them.

Channing Frye is a solid choice for the fourth big slot. Boston would be a bad place for him though, he needs minutes in order to get a bigger contract in the future.

Is that a joke? Rasho is a seasoned veteran who plays the game and his position properly and fundamentally.

Channing Frye on the other hand constantly settles for jumpers and is afraid to put his body on the line for a rebound.

Frye does not = Ubuntu.

I would take a chance on Swift or May over Frye any day.  Now that they have Sheed, they could really use someone who is more of a low post threat, and Frye is about as far from that as you can get, but either of those guys could fill that role if they can stay healthy (and have a BMI below 35).

Channing Frye is a complete marshmallow-- the antithesis if Powe.

For your 4th big man you want an enforcer, not a marshmallow.

I'd be happy with Frye or Radoslav for the Vet. Minimum as our 4th or 5th big guy.

I don't think of any of those guys as really being a post player.  Of that list, I'd go with Rasho, who's big enough to provide depth at the C spot and who can help stretch the floor.

For a post presence, I'm wondering if they'll ask 'Sheed to play inside a little more than he has in recent years.  He's [dang] good down low, he just tends to fall in love with his jumper a bit too much.  We're still going to be mostly a shooting/slashing team, that's just how the roster is constructed for better or worse.  Maybe they'll call Perk's number a little more, the work he's put in on his inside game seems to be paying off.

All I know is whenever the C's go up against Jamal Maglore, I absolutely HATE him by the end of the game. So I would love him on this team annoying the crap out of a different team for once. It will be good to have 6 more fouls with some mustard on them against Shaq.

You heard it here first: Robert Swift > Frye/Powe

Thats Powe with no ACL, right, not a healthy Powe?

But ultimately I agree.  If Swift could kick his injury problems, he would be a HUGE pickup.  But I just have no confidence he could stay healthy.
