Okay, here's what bugs me:
If the Lakers win a ring this year it will be the most diluted, soft, illegitimate, and insignificant championship that any team has won during my lifetime, and it will be the most frustrating series I ever had the displeasure of watching.
Its looking like the Fakers are the "default" champions of 2009. There was just never any legitimate competition for their team-- decimated Houston, a the Utah Damaged Goods, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Nuggets (lets try! Wait! This isn't going exactly the way we wanted it to! I think I'll get T'd up and lose my composure. Sick. Chauncey start jacking threes.)
It really eats at me that we were decimated by injuries and Cleveland got screwed by match-ups because it lead to unusual circumstance--the Fakers were always going to be in the Finals. I mean, lets face it: the west was weaker than Kobe's attempts to be personable in that Spike Lee *ahem* "documentary".
Most unfortunately, the East just happened to shake down in the worst way possible. The worst of the 3 teams legitimately contending to represent the East somehow emerged as Eastern Conference Champions. That irks me. Cleveland? Fine. Its not LA. But to have the east repped by an inferior club? arguably because of one fateful night in Utah? Man, that's frustrating.
Does anyone else feel this way?
