Okay, here's what bugs me:

If the Lakers win a ring this year it will be the most diluted, soft, illegitimate, and insignificant championship that any team has won during my lifetime, and it will be the most frustrating series I ever had the displeasure of watching.

Its looking like the Fakers are the "default" champions of 2009. There was just never any legitimate competition for their team-- decimated Houston, a the Utah Damaged Goods, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Nuggets (lets try! Wait! This isn't going exactly the way we wanted it to! I think I'll get T'd up and lose my composure. Sick. Chauncey start jacking threes.)

It really eats at me that we were decimated by injuries and Cleveland got screwed by match-ups because it lead to unusual circumstance--the Fakers were always going to be in the Finals.  I mean, lets face it: the west was weaker than Kobe's attempts to be personable in that Spike Lee *ahem* "documentary".

Most unfortunately, the East just happened to shake down in the worst way possible. The worst of the 3 teams legitimately contending to represent the East somehow emerged as Eastern Conference Champions. That irks me. Cleveland? Fine. Its not LA. But to have the east repped by an inferior club? arguably because of one fateful night in Utah? Man, that's frustrating.

Does anyone else feel this way?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Sort, not exactly.

I actually dislike the idea of LeBron getting a ring with his joke of a team than Kobe getting his ring.  The "Fakers" might not be the best, grittiest team in a league that is totally healthy, but at least they have two of the best players in the league and some really solid role players with experience.  The Lakers are a legitimate playoff team even if they don't seem like a "Championship" team.

I'd love to see somebody else get a trophy, but at least it's not the Cleveland LeBrons with their "Coach of the Year" and their "All-Star" Mo Williams.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I feel exactly as you do- and have stated this in a couple of other threads. I am so mad right now- I guess I knew the Magic never really had a chance and think of just how much a healthy Celtics team would be crushing the Lakers right now...I guess it is just extremely disppointing that the Magic SHOULD be up 3-1, not the Lakers. This whole thing is a huge slap in the face.

From remembering all the stuff said after last yrs.finals by Kobe,Odom,Fish,Gasol and especially Sasha how badly they wanted a rematch with the Celtics in this years finals...a championship is a great accomplishment but some are measured to be better than others.Somehow i don't feel by beating the Magic will be as great as beating the C's,if the Lakers are real competitors.

If Pierce and KG were in their shoes, they would want a rematch with the Lakers to prove who was the better of the two .

Miami in 2006 wins that honour from me -- I think that was by far the weakest Championship team of the last 30 years.

i'd LOVE the cavs winning instead of the lakers. lakers must never win. NEVER!! i loathe cleveland but it will never compare to l.a.
this finals does completely suck. not just because the lakers are on the brink but, in my opinion, because bothe teams are very finesse stye teams. it just makes for less drama. these teams look like they practically LIKE eachother even after 4 games. it's gross.
orlanso is lacking leadership. i hate to give kareem credit(evil! evil!)but he's right about howard's attitude. he's too happy, joking around, smiling. maybe dwight  just has his priorities in life straight.  it's only a game. it's just that the guys that win the titles are almost always led by a maniac like larry, mj,isiah thomas,kg etc. guys that live and breathe hoops and want to destroy their opponent.
