I know a lot of people like Grant Hill on this blog, but I'm concerned about him based on his injury history plus age. With 3 veterans aready as the core of our team, who have all battled injuries the last few yrs, I'm hesitant to invest in Hill. Seems very risky, especially when you add in Powe's knee and Perk's shoulder. We don't Scal having to be our 6th man again in the playoffs.

Agreed, which is why I think it also makes sense to take a look at Matt Barnes
Celtics fan for life.

I'm tired of getting these old players for a year or two.
I want to go after a younger player than can actually develop on our bench for a few years. I know it's a lot to ask for... but please, I dont want to be like the 04 Lakers where star players went to die.

That's what they tried this past season.  Didn't work well for the bench.

The Celtics three guys are here to win now.  Put the team around them to win now.

Plus, I would hate to see them leave and have a deep team of decent to good players and no superstars.  That's would place them in the middle of NBA no mans land.  Too good to draft a future superstar, not bad enough to be a real contender.

Rather see a Celtics team with Perk and Rondo and a bunch of replaceable players when the three stars are gone.  The proper pieces to put around a superstar.

AS for the trio mentioned, I like two out of three.  Marbury did nothing and has a bad chemistry history.

I agree that I'd rather get some younger players off the bench (like 25-30 instead of 30-35+), but we have to take what we can get to make our team as good as possible right now.

Ideally we'd have a bench like the Lakers with 3-5 productive guys who are in their primes, but that's not realistic for us to get in one off-season.

Most likely our best chance will be to sign the best FAs available for the money we can offer, and that will probably mean getting some old guys who will be around for a year or two at most.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I want whats best for this team in the short term. I would much rather go after a proven talent than a younger player who we develop on our bench for the next few years. Didn't Doc say that our bench "got young too quickly" when KG went out? I don't think he is looking for a younger player to develop but a veteran who already has....Also I don't really understand your point about the 04 lakers. They made the finals that year and were heavy favorites. And now a few years later they make back to back finals appearances so it's not like that 04 season has affected them in any way.
