Let's face it.  We knew it was going to happen.  Whether it was this round or ECF, we just didn't have the depth, size or legs to actually make a run for the Championship.  This moment was inevitable.

While KG's injury cost us this year, it actually sets up next year quite nicely.  This forced everyone else to step up.

  • Rondo has become an all-star point guard during the playoffs.  Albeit inconsistent, three triple doubles is still amazing for an undersized 23 year old guard.
  • Perk has proven to be one of the top centers in the league and was able to almost completely shut down Howard from the post.  He also shoots for a high percentage and has developed some excellent post moves.
  • Baby was shown that he is more than just a role player.  He's worked really hard this off-season and it shows. Still not a starter for a contender, but I believe he'll make a great 6th man next season if he resigns.
  • Scal has justified his roster spot and has proven to be a solid role player and contributer off of the bench.  He is no longer the running joke of the franchise.
Now throw KG back into the mix.  The big three will have aged a couple of years, but I think that the maturation of the rest of the squad makes up for this.  Let's just hope that his injuries can be resolved with surgery.

I had to make a positive thread, as this whole forum is so emo right now.  :'( :'( :'(

Rondo was very disappointing tonight, but you're right.  He is overall a huge positive from this postseason.  He just needs someone who can get to him mentally so he brings it every night.

Perk was awesome this series.  He has justified his position as a starting center for a championship team.

The young guys got expanded minutes and roles.  That should help them in the upcoming years.  It'll be interesting to see what happens with Powe and Davis.  Hopefully they can keep Davis, and his performance as a starter will translate to becoming a 6th Man of the Year candidate.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Hm, this team has a lot of heart.  Taking this team to 7 is impressive with out KG and Powe.  Also, Big Baby is a perfect offensive big off the bench.  Lot of hustle, good shooter, average defender.  I really hope they resign him.  Perk is definitely a starting center in this league.  Few other things I've learned, Rondo is over-rated defensively, I'd call him an average defender, not good, but not bad either.  Doc Rivers is still not the coach I wish he was(4th quarters, everything goes through Pierce instead of running the normal offense).  Mikki Moore is awful, like useless awful.   Lastly, I havn't said it all year, and didn't think I would, but I wish James Posey was still here.
do it

Perk continues to improve

Rondo is on the verge of being something special

Baby is a lot more of a player than we bargained for

We won 62 games

We're not crossing our fingers for a lottery winner

Yup

The continued development of Rondo and Perkins is the headliner for me.

Scal can do wonderful things for us and his head seems ok.

Baby's toolbox is growing and he's continuing to get more athletic. If he can learn to finish.. watch out.

Perk is getting better on both ends of the floor and he's gotten more respect from the refs.

KG...may come back hungrier than ever.

Rondo... I don't even know what to say about this guy. He was so disappointing today, but he's teased us with what he's capable of doing. I think he just needs to figure it out mentally, because everything else is there.

Team camaraderie is still strong. There's no drama amongst players or coaches.

Perkins, Rondo, and BBD are a nice young core to build around.

The end.
