On 20-30 possessions tonight, we drove hard, got into the lane, stopped, hesitated, then went up, and in a frenzy of panic, dished hurriedly to the nearest guy in Green. Instead of getting a layup, we would get a turnover, or, at the very least, a near turnover that would lead to a shot clock violation or a bad shot.

Why?

Because of Dwight Howard. For some reason in the second half the whole team got scared of his shot blocking ability on 90% of its drives. We stopped driving hard and drawing contact and subsequently doomed ourselves. If it weren't for Pierce jolting to life late in the fourth and Rondo hitting that improbable three we wouldn't have had more than 5 points in the last 8 or 9 minutes of the game.

It is absolutely imperative that we take it at Dwight hard and fast-- any herky-jerky stuff in the lane just gives him time to set up. The best drives are like the one PP had in the first half where he went strong on the break and got the goaltend, or like the one he had at the end of the game where he drew the foul but missed both FTS (ugh).

We need to repeat those plays over and over--attack, attack, attack.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

yeh i dont know why they completely abandoned goin to the rim strong.. at some point you have to concede that if your gonna get blocked then so be it but at least take it hard in the process (which is what we saw them do early in the game)
