Lots of reasons for the Celtics big win last night.  But I have to give credit to Doc for shaking up the rotation.  He really pared down to about 8 guys seeing meaningful minutes and, apart from garbage time, didn't fall into his normal routine of throwing 4-5 bench guys on floor at the same time for extended periods.  Moore, Marbury and House made up the 8 man rotation.  Doc was not afraid to go small with Marbury and Rondo in the backcourt together and it paid off.  He mixed the bench guys in with starters.

I would have expected T. Allen to be the guy that saw minutes in this game over Marbury, but credit Doc for making the right call:  Marbury played well.  It was good to see him relaxing and joking with Pierce on the bench late in the game.  He's clearly starting to get more comfortable and will be needed if the Celtics are to do some damage in later rounds.

Doc nor the team did anything different. The Celtics at times just do not execute the offensive and defensive systems that are in place. Sometimes it's due to lack of focus, sometimes lack of energy and sometimes fatique (which shouldn't apply here). All Doc and the players did was to review some film and see what they were doing wrong. Last nite they just played the way they are suppposed to play. When that happens everyone looks good and things happen the way they are supposed to.

Doc's clearly the better, more experienced coach in this series.  I think he's done very well so far, besides the bizarre way he's been handling the KG situation.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

On EEI after Marbury attributed his success to the new pattern, saying that he felt more comfortable with it.

Of course it helps to have a few starters on the floor with him.

Doc didn't do anything different???  You mean other than shortening the rotation and utilizing an entirely different substitution pattern than the previous two games?   ???

The only thing different about this game was the arrival of Scal.   Scal saved us.

I thought it was funny that when Scal was put on the floor in the first half we started raining 3's.  It had nothing to do with him technically, but you know he told the guys how much the lead grew once he stepped on the floor.  Just the thought of him saying that to the team made me laugh.  Plus, when Scal hit that 3 later in the game, I went freakin' nuts.

Doc played everyone we will depend on off the bench and they all produced.  I still think Mikki Moore commits the dumbest fouls I've ever seen, but oh well.  Eddie and Steph sure looked confident by games end.  Hats off to Doc and the bench.

I too was expecting to see Tony out there but apparently he received some death threats and there was extra security by the C's bench JUST FOR HIM. That's scary if you ask me.

Here's the link from early this morning (sorry if it was mentioned/posted already): http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/58742/20090424/tony_allen_target_of_death_threat_security_enhanced_in_chicago/
