Boston.com is reporting that Powe has a sprained knee and will be questionable for the remainder of the series... :(

Doesn't look very good for Powe, having Scal back would be best right now. I think he's ready and I agree Moore shouldn't see that much minutes.

This may turn out to be an interesting additional injury in terms of what we do this offseason. BBD will be getting all the run which gives him a leg up on the race if we only sign one of them. The question will be whether or not Powe's injury will make it less likely that he receives a big contract from another team. I at this point would actually like to keep them both, as they are kind of the opposite of each other and you could play them as matchups dictate.

This wasn't the leg that Powe hurt in college, so I am not really worried about it causing him issues for next year, and if I had to choose only one I still go with Powe. BBD has definitely closed the distance though.

I don't think they are opposite of one another - actually very similar.  Undersized PFs who bang and can score and rebound but cannot block shots.  I think it would be nice to get a long PF in the Tyrus Thomas mold in place of Powe if at all possible.

Let's see.

BBD can shoot from the outside but can't score inside very well due to his height and lack of hops. Powe on the other hand can't shoot very well from the outside but is a great around the basket post player.

BBD is a poor rebounder, mediocre if you are being generous. Powe on the other hand is a very gifted rebounder.

BBD passes the ball pretty well for his size, where Powe is not as good with that part of the game.

Powe bangs down low because he is a physical beast. BBD because he is fat and wide.

If the only similarity is that they are both undersized to be big men then that's quite a stretch.

If Powe is out, we are in trouble, I don't think Scal is going to play again this year, I have nothing to back that up, just a feeling. Perk is going to have to play 35 minutes a game to keep the C's in it.

Losing Powe is a big deal for this series, but eventually becomes moot in the next series or against Cleveland.  We'll lose against Orlando or Cleveland even with Leon.  Scal would help by taking some of Mikki's minutes and will help our ability to respond to early foul trouble, but doesn't really make the C's a stonger team. 

Bottom line against Chicago (IMO) is that if Gordon or Rose continue to be  unstoppable, the remainder of the games will be close and we'll be lucky to advance. The Bulls have been remarkable in their ability to stop any Celtics momentum with 16-18 foot jumpers that find the net.  If they have a game or 2 in which the J's don't fall, the C's will take the series.

yeap anytime we got the Moore/Marbury combo we're screwed. With out Powe the bench gets real thin and Doc almost has to play Moore.

Can't believe I'm typing this but Scal would be a huge help for our bench.

Given the C's history with sprained kness, pretty good guess that he is done for the postseason I would say. I also believe that without Leon, and with a hobbled rondo, the C's will be lucky to get out of this series. HELP!

Tough news, Leon will be missed for this series, and for the next one if our team gets there. I hope Scalabrine will be able to play for game 3 as Doc said he probably would but on the other hand I don't want him to risk his life after all these concussions... Plus, he hasn't played for a long time and we don't know what he'll bring us but anyway it'd be a big help if he played because of his length.

If leon isn't going to play against the confident, energetic and somewhat chippy bulls we have a problem.  PP playing pf minutes when he doesn't even have a sf sub?  :-\
Doc needs to get walker in at sf (or ta for that matter) for 5 minutes.  Just 5, we need pierce with his legs at the end of the game.
don't think scal is playing the rest of the year and we could use him
