Celtics coach Doc Rivers was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for April, the league announced today.

Rivers guided the Celtics to a 6-1 (.857) record in April, including a perfect 5-0 mark at home, despite playing without injured star forward Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics recorded wins over three Eastern Conference playoff teams, winning home games over the Hawks and Heat, and also picking up a road win over the 76ers.

Rivers also won the award this season for games played in October/November.

So if Doc is a two time winner of a Coach of the Month award that is given out 6 times a year, does that make him the leading candidate for the Coach of the Year? ;D

pretty remarkable job by doc this season, considering all the different injuries, lineups, substitutions, additions of personnel and 3rd best record in the entire league.  kudos to him!

I agree with what you said about Doc, but it is what it is.  It's been discussed before and everyone knows he's a terrible at coaching during the game and making adjustments, subsition's, etc.  Honestly the way this team came out to play today I put a lot of blame on the coach for preperation.

Well, you are right...most people here believe the coach has no responsibility for anything that goes on with the team..he doesn't have to manage his players, protect them (enforcer), watch their health, understand who, what and where they are in age, shape, potential....I guess they expect the same from the ceo's...LOL....I know...this is what we have to work with....!
