If anyone is interested in a blog about Proverbs (from the Bible), I started one a few months back.  You can find it here:

http://doughnutholes.wordpress.com

I normally like to keep my Faith off the pages of CelticsBlog because I don't like the idea of bringing people to a site for one reason (Celtics talk) and hitting them up with another (potentially controversial) one.

With that said, we have an off topic forum for a reason and I figured I'd use it to pimp my new blog.

Besides, I think it is worth telling people this:  If you see any good thing in me or have any respect for me at all, I want give all the credit to the Lord.  Or said another way, I'm only as good as my Faith has made me.

So if you want to read my thoughts on Proverbs, click the link.  If not, don't.  No big deal.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This may not be the place to put it, but Im interested in this kinda thing..not really looking to convert, more to understand.

People say you should learn spanish, or japanese, or chinese, kind of acknowledging that there is another way out there that an educated person should know in order to be a citizen of the world.

Well living in America today and now knowing anyhting about the bible (my own backround, catholic, baptized and first communion, stopped after that, my choice), its kind of like not acknowledging whole aspects of the people around you. I really think also that in order to understand someone who truly believes in god, and christ and the resurrection, you need to understand what they believe.

one of my resolutions this new years was to read the bible cover to cover, but I havent started it yet. maybe your blog will give me some jumping off points, rather than just try to swim in the deep end.

IndeedProceed,

reading through the Bible cover to cover works for some people, but for most it is a little overwhelming - at least at first

there are Bibles you can buy that set you up on a reading plan that typically takes a few chapters from the OT, the NT, plus a Psalm and Proverb each day (similar plan online: http://biblestudy.crosswalk.com/readingplan/)

I've never been able to do it myself, but more power to you if you can

for a quicker overview, read Genesis, Exodus, the Gospels (Matt/Mark/Luke/John), and a few of Paul's letters (Romans, Ephesians, 2 Timothy are my favorites)

Wow Jeff, looks like you've put some major effort into that one too.

Good to see you give the disciples, I mean mods, some props on there.  ;)

Not sure where I fall on faith at this point in my life, but I applaud you for your positive outlook.  Nary a bit of negativity that I saw in my perusal.
Yup
