Also, consider that the (granted, KG-less) Celtics were playing against the Dunleavy-less and GRANGER-LESS Pacers, and had trouble with them. And last I checked, the team goes as Rondo goes.

Don't forget Scal-less  ;)

even if it's true that Marbury's presence will cause Rondo to be shaken up a bit... I think it's a good thing.  It'll help his development.  THen maybe he will not disappear during the playoffs for large chunks of games.

Rondo has been up and down all year, nothing new here... he'll be up again soon.

If we're going to have these types of concerns everytime we bring a suitable backup, then how good for us is really Rondo?

Good enough to be a key contributor on a title team, good enough to be seen as one of the best pgs in the league. Aside from that he's hardly worth having on the team. You think we should dump him because some people o this board are speculating that Marbury might have affected his play?

Clearly you didn't take the point I was making. All I'm saying is in this hypothetical situation that people have created, Rondo starts playing like crap because we add capable backups, then Rondo is the problem... because Rondo simply can't start preventing us from improving our team just because he might feel a little insecure about his job, that's all.

Not that I believe any of the theories of Rondo playing poorly because Marbury was brought on. But if any of the speculation is true, then Rondo has some issues to resolve.

The other side of it, that might have been lost, is that in a way I was telling people to give a little more credit to Rondo.

It even gets so bad that Rondos mess ups create havoc on the threads and arguments ensue!!

I think he is looking over his shoulder at Marbury and pressing because of it.  Doc isn't going to yell at Marbury, he's an all star vet.  But Doc is still going to yell at Rondo and get on him in practice, this won't be good for Rondo's ego.

Marbury is better than Rondo.  I know millions of people will disagree.  My question is if Marbury is clearly outplaying Rondo will Marbury get more minutes and more crunch time minutes?  And will Rondo self destruct because of his ego.
