Oh goody.  Another meaningless event to add to a collossal waste of time that is all-star weekend.

So, you follow a children's game played by grown men, but an exhibition of the most popular and talented players is beneath you?  Just checking.

Anyway, this is great news!  Except for the time problems some people mention - a lot of real games can take a long time, so I'm not sure how they'll do it with several players.

And so help me God, if there's a WNBA player within a country mile of this thing...<shakes fist>

I have to agree with the original quote.  The allstar game is the best players playing basketball at their worst.  I could watch Team USA in the Olympics, even though it was an all star team, because they practice with eachother and play to win.  The allstar game is just a bunch of great players slapped together and having a good time.

There is nothing *wrong* with that, but there's nothing wrong with thinking it's pretty boring and useless, either.  It depends on what your favorite part of basketball is, I guess.  Mine definitely isn't individual talent.

It's still the most interesting all star event in US team sports.

Nice. This should be a lot more entertaining than the Shooting Stars challenge or whatever. I've been waiting for this game to be added to the All Star weekend.
