Get that straight and you save yourselves lots of hair and the chance of an ulcer.

There's been a ton of "Free ________"(fill-in-the-blank) threads, numerous trade all our bench for one decent player threads, a bunch of "Fire Doc" threads(though admittedly, less than I thought there would be), an unbelievably giant number of start-a-scrub-bench-a-starter posts, and various other permutations of requests for major overhauls and changes in this team.

But guess what? You're all WRONG!!

The last thing this team needs is major change!!!

What is needed here is not unproven and less than NBA ready rookies getting major minutes. What is needed here is not the embarassment that was the pick up of Patrick O'Bryant being given time over any other player on the roster during meaningful time in a game. What is needed here is not the benching of a starter. What is needed here is minor.

This team is off but let's get a larger view on what's happening here. It is not April, May, or June, it is mid January. This team is still 29-9 and is as far as we know healthy. This is an extremely important factor in reasoning that now is not the time to panic. If they are not injured then this is still the same team that ran out to the best 29 game start in league history and had one of the longest winning streaks ever. So what's different.

Well, everything that's different is mental.

Concentration, effort, cohesion, perserverance, resiliency, toughness, and unity is what is needed. I good swift kick in the ass, mentally, is what is needed. A reminder of who they are and what they can accomplish is what is needed. A tweak in this one's game. A minor twist in that one's game. And a tuneup in the way they are thinking and moving and performing as a team, as a unit, as a whole.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. What made this team so great from game 1 last year until Christmas Day 2008 is that they were always better as a whole than the sum of all their parts. But recently they've been playing less of that overall team concept on offense and defense. Some just a little minor is missing. Once that is reintroduced into the equation this team is going to rock and roll once more.

BTW, this all falls on Doc. He must earn his cash NOW. Coach this team back to what they were Doc because that is what is needed. And if a month from now things aren't better, beware because it should be your head that goes then.

i agree that this team is doing too much one on one stuff - especially down the stretch of games, but the question is why...

to me it is a sign of fatigue....maybe mental more than physical at this point....

i don't see how playing Walker or Giddens at TAs spot is a major change. The bench IMO needs a spark big time.

read this report about what Walker is doing down in the D League:

I noticed he was drafted by the Wizards in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft. Was he traded to Boston or was he cut by the Wizards and picked up by Boston?
