Charlie Scott was drafted by the Celtics, The suns were required to compensate. The Boston Celtics receive
Paul Silas.
1973- Boston Celtics draft
Paul Westphal with the 10th overall pick in the NBA draft.
1973/1974- Celtics Win their 12th Championship

1975-
Paul Westphal is dealt to the Phoenix Suns for
Charlie Scott and future considerations.
1975/1976- Celtics win their 13th Championship (defeating
Paul Westphal and the Phoenix Suns)
1976- with the 29th overall pick the Seattle Supersonics Draft
Dennis Johnson.
1980- the Seattle Supersonics trade
Dennis Johnson to the Phoenix Suns for
Paul Westphal.1983- Celtics trade Rick Robey to Phoenix Suns in return for
Dennis "DJ" Johnson It's like us signing DJ in 83 wouldn't have happened if our 7th round pick in 1970 wanted to play in the NBA, or if he never got sick of the ABA, or if we didn't trade Westphal for him 5 years later.
