Dikembe Mutombo:

"Boston talked to me about being interested, but never made an offer. I believe they also had interest in P.J. Brown, Alonzo Mourning, and Joe Smith, who might be released by Oklahoma City."

"Boston wasn't ready. I think they will want to do something at the end of January. I think they're interested in four guys and then will pick one."

It sounds like there is interest in Zo on the Celtics part. This is great news. Whether Zo is interested remains to be seen. We would instantly have the most intense and intimidating big men in the game with KG and Zo not to mention Perk. Can you imagine KG and Zo together?

I think Zo will go back to Miami.

I'll go so far as to say that if Zo comes back, I guarantee he will go back to Miami.  Whenever he talks about coming back, it's to Miami; he still refers to the Heat as "we".

well, it seems that ainge is being a good GM in that he is "interested" in any nba player who is 7 foot tall and not dead. i think "interested" here means danny would take a look.

however, to believe, based upon the quote above, that ainge is actively and seriously going to sign any of these guys is another matter all together.

i think for mutumbo, ainge decided to not offer a deal since mutumbo is viewed as offering less than powe and BBD offer. that is, he would not have really added anything to the celtics. i am guessing, but i believe this since if ainge thought mutumbo would help the celtics he would have made an offer.

ainge is the same guy to try to get karl malone out of retirement. and did get PJ brown out of retirement.

who ainge eventually adds will be interesting. but i think they will have to clearly have more to offer than who is in the second unit now.

What's the word on his recuperation? How's the knee holding up now one year removed from his surgery?

Spoelstra said before the game that centre Alonzo Mourning will decide if he will return in the next 3-4 weeks. Mourning, who still has a locker in the Heat dressing room, is rehabbing and has said he hopes to re-sign with Miami sometime this season.

I agree,i heard him on the Best [dang] Sports Show" in August refer to the Heat as the team he will be playing for in late Dec. or early Jan.(prediction)...also was very hyped about rejoining the team with a healthy D.Wade.He spoke about a charatible organization he and Wade has that helps disadvantage families, something that he seems very passionate about.I just got the feeling, there isn't any other team on his radar at this point in his career. He seems to love s.beach a little more than cold, snowy New England in the winter. :)

As scary as Perk, KG, Zo and Powe would be on one team, I think we need to realize it's nothing but a pipe dream.

As mentioned above, Zo still refers to the Heat as 'we' and he still has a locker in their locker room. I think its pretty safe to say he'll be staying in Miami. I think he's set to return after the all star break. He has been rehabbing for quite a while now and he has mentioned that he won't return until he is ready.

As far as I know, Zo is NOT under contract with the Miami heat so he does have the freedom to do as he wishes, and we cannot trade for him. I've heard Miami is well over the luxury tax so maybe we'd be able to make a better offer, and give him a shot at a ring.

Further info - Alonzo still has a locker in their dressing room. He's also been around the team during the season and has been giving advice to young players like Joel Anthony with regularity.

I agree that he's returning to Miami if he returns to the NBA. The only way he wasn't was if Miami was in the cellar, but they're clearly in the playoff picture.

If he gets healthy and Chalmers and Beasley keep improving, I would not want to play them in the first round. If they get the final playoff seed, maybe Doc should let KG, Paul, and Ray rest so that Cleveland wins the East.
