After starting the season with 8 techs in about 15 games, Perk has gotten his attitude under control, and hasnt recieved a tech since I believe November 23rd, which was his 8th.  I know players shouldnt need to be rewarded for keeping their attitude under control, as they should be expected to do it irregardless, but I think it shows a lot for Perks character and lack of selfishness to listen to his teammates and restrain himself from argueing calls everytime theirs a whistle blown.  Theres so many players in the NBA who are seasoned veterans and still cant learn to make this transition, so I'd like to say that I'm pretty proud of the guy for not only sacraficing his ego for the good of the team, but also having the class and maturity of being able to do it at such a younger age.

Perk has been great! Has anyone noticed how we seem to lose a lot more often when he is not playing? He is a very underrated player and sacrifices a lot to make the Celtics great.

Yeah I was noticing Perk hadn't been picking up techs lately. It's good to see those details, reassuring. Glad he toned it down.

I wonder if it also connected to how well he has been playing.

The better the player plays, the better the reputation he gets, the less likely officials call him on things.

One of the reasons he doesn't get into as much foul trouble now as he did earlier in his career.

so happy with Perk... he's better than i ever thought he would be.  He has mastered skills right before my eyes that once appeared to be out of his reach.  Love this guy!  Perk is a beast!

Let me join the Perk lovefest. I've liked him from the day he joined the team. Danny said year one was to get Perk in shape. Perk didn't play alot, but his work ethic clearly showed. Perk has suffered through injuries, plantar fasciitis, 2 shoulder surgeries, that have prevented him from working during the summers with Clifford Ray. It has also interfered with the work he does to stay in shape. Yet through all this Perk has persevered and shown he is a true Celtic. He's in the best shape ever and is playing his best basketball ever. I believe it's his 5th year and he's only 23 or 24. He also agreed to a most reasonable contract when he was extended. I think he could have gotten more elsewhere, but he chose the Celtics over money. Compare this to what Bynum is looking for and I don't think Bynum can shine Perk's shoes.

lol, I don't htink so.  :P

He is getting help from his team mates as well.  I was about to start bringing a sign to the games.  It would have had one of those number flip charts with "Games since Perk has a had a T"

Perks technical fouls were never from having a bad attitude. Perk is a very intense and passionate man. He takes his job seriously and wants people to take him seriously. Like many young people he needed to work on self control. I am proud of the accomplishments he has made so far, I think there are a lot more where they came from as well.  8)

Thing about Perk is he complains whenever a whistle is blown. Even the obviously good calls cause him to look shocked. The big difference between Perk and Wallace is that (1) Perk doesn't argue as long as Wallace and (2) Perk gets called at times for taunting, while Wallace usually just gets called for stubborn complaining about calls.

Yeah when comparing Perk with Wallace is when I realized how lucky we are to have a guy like Perk who can realize the problem, and/or is man enough to realize that he needs to keep himself under control, and nip it in the bud......rather than be stuck with a guy like Wallace who is now in his 30's and will still take argueing calls waaaay too far, even in the playoffs when he would need just one more to be suspended and really hurt his team (like last year).

Not to mention if the refs T'd Wallace up as quickly as they do Perk, Wallace would be suspended before December even hit.

It is good to see Perk showing some restraint.  However, I don't think it is so much not arguing calls, many of Perk's techs have been of the taunting variety, getting into it with an opponent.  He still scowls but has held back apparently from the more egregious displays that he was getting nailed for before.
