  • Rondo = Good
Here's my dad's take:

Bingo with respect to Rondo!  The sooner that he’s gone, the better!!!  Tommy had his MO, a long time ago.  He is so frustrating when it gets to the fourth quarter.  The Celts have it tough enough in crunch time, never mind shortening the shot clock by 10 plus seconds.  As you know, teams ramp up the D in the 4th quarter, packing it it in.  This is exacerbated by known tendencies.  Other teams know that the Celts are a jump shooting team with no inside game.  Plus they know that Rondo can’t shoot, so they don’t step out to pressure him.  This leaves the Celtics wasting precious seconds standing around and then, with the shot clock winding down, scrambling to get one of the shooters an open look.  Way too often, all five Celtics are on the perimeter or retreating just after one of them has launched a wayward outside shot.  You just can’t win consistently that way.

  • You say when......
rondo made some shots that night.....and his shot is much better than ever before....the fact that the celts don't go for layups....that is called.." a team that will "lay up" during the playoffs" the lack of rebounding, no inside game, no post, average defense...= and average team....blaming the pg.....there is NO pg alone that would / could fix this team...I would be MORE inclined to blame the COACH...#1 for his "don't bother rebounding" philosephy......remember how indiana beat us.....they put up a shot, 4 guys go after it, whether it goes in or not..! whoever gets the rebound, there is no chance of a fast break, too many guys in your face to try an outlet like that......doc not playing diff players who can cover the kobe's, or run for a fast break.....he always wants his 5 starters in there....

Have to admit, that is how we are fundamentally flawed. Both with Rondo and the way we rebound. I seen the worst thing I ever seen on the Celtics last night in the 4th quarter. 4 guys standing in one spot all on the perimeter looking at Rondo bouncing the ball and pointing his finger. No one ran or cut. No one set a pick. With 8 seconds or so left on the shot clock. A pass. A double team. A desperation shot or an errant pass to someone who was unprepared or was covered himself and launching up a desperation shot himself. Furthermore, as soon as the ball is launched everyone was on their way to the other end of the floor. Last night was the worst I have seen the Celtics in a long, long, time.

We were fundamentally flawed and we approached the end of the game with no chance to win.

As devisive as Rondo's play is here at CB, it has to be as devisive if not more so inside the Celtic lockerroom.

Time to go.

Well, tell me / us...WHO do you think you are JUST GOING TO GET..we already know NO one wants to come to the celtics...cp3...ya..he told you no....and who do you think is going to fix this by themselves....a fast, shooting pg..will STILL run by themselves....even on an average team....1 guy runs for the layup, you have q guy follow..for the....follow...rebound......you SHOULD be faulting the COACH here.......on the one hand, some say HE got us a championship....but he was never on the court..so it must have been his mastery of plays and rotations..but NOW that we need his mastery of this game..where is it....? We all know al the pieces are there, we have seen great things out of this team....we do have speed, height, rebounders, experience, youth, athelites..depth.....at pg..rondo, bradley dooling......blaming rondo is like blaming the ball..and the ball don't lie...and neither do I...!

Rondo's late game disappearances are becoming more and more troubling the closer we get to the reality of him being "the guy" after this season.

Rondo has never took over during cruch time.  Even the games he dominated in the past it is usually in the first half.  Bradley does not take over in the final seconds either.  Our finishers RA and PP and KG have not finished in the close games.  But a few years ago PP was nigh unstoppable.  Neither RA or KG were ever top level finisher, in fact, KG had a rep for not wanting to take big shots prior to coming here.

While, I don't think Rondo is a tier one franchise player.  I still think he is better and has more value than Avery Bradley both in game and in trade.

One thing I like about Rondo is his rebounding.   But I agree we got ate up from the inside and it had little to do with offensive flow and a lot to do with rebounding.
