Great thread. Kind of Kafkian.

In portuguese, that bug is called "rapelho" or "bicho-da-lenha". The scientific name is Forficula auricularia ( http://acabado.blogspot.com/2008/01/todos-pelo-forficula-auricularia.html ).

It's very common on gardens (and useful, as it feeds mostly from nocive insects). Not so much in one's bed. Do you have a fireplace in your room?

I think what Cordobes is trying to say BG is, find a large mirror, pull your pants down and examine yourself thoroughly in order to determine whether or not there are any large egg deposits you are not aware of hanging around somewhere.

Yeah, to clarify, I asked about the fireplace because it's very weird - and, while I don't want to scare you, somehow dangerous, because they are omnivorous - to find one of those bugs inside your house. So, if I were you, I'd light a fire in the fireplace and then proceed to follow Rob's advice. In the worst scenario, burn all your underwear.
