I don't believe it.  He always seemed so durable.   ;)

I guess $111 million doesn't get you what it used to.

yea... it'll be another 2 or 3 years before he makes any noise if he ever does in the nba again. arenas is a shooter and when you get multiple knee surgeries and cannot obtain the same lift you did before, your shot dies and so does your all-star status.

The Wizards will probably be better off because of it. Arenas might be the only max player who has a team that plays better when he's not on the court. They should have let him walk(if they got cap space) or try to find a good deal on a sign and trade.

I know this is nothing to do with Bynum but before the LAKER's fans bring  the hype"noise" to much, maybe they should wait to see what happens with his recovery from his injury, and see if he holds up 82+games...Anything's Possible".

Quote
Gilbert Arenas had a third operation on his left knee Wednesday morning, putting the Washington Wizards in full spin mode as they face another season of uncertainty concerning their franchise player.

"I don't know if it is a setback," team president Ernie Grunfeld said.

Grunfeld might be the only person who can say that with a straight face. The star player who signed an $111 million contract in July seems almost certain to miss the early part of the regular season at a minimum, dousing the team's hopes of having a healthy campaign after the past two were wrecked by injuries to top players.

...

The team said the arthroscopic procedure removed a "moderate amount of debris" from Arenas' knee. Grunfeld offered no timetable for Arenas' return, but Arenas told The Washington Post that he plans to be back on the court in early December, which would rule him out for the first month of the season.

...

But a team source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that Arenas' timetable was "optimistic" and said a January return is far more likely.

Link.

Ouch.  $111 million isn't looking like so much of a bargain, now.

Couldn't this have happened much earlier on in the offseason?
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

The regret contract of the 08-09 season.

Last year it was Rashard Lewis. This year it's Gilbert Arenas. Wonder who it is next year  :P

reshard lewis was overpaid but not exactly unplayable. the magic certainly got loads better so you can't really compare these two. arenas may never be all-star level again.

Become Legendary.
