I like Ryan as well, but I don't see him as a great fit for this team. The only way he's worth signing is if he's playing regular minutes, otherwise he just becomes a Scal - over paid for the minutes played. The only way he could play regular minutes would be if we had a singel C/PF off the bench who was excellent defensively, plus a single wing/PG that was essentially backing up both guard spots.
For example imagine you had a Perk clonne at PF/C off the bench and a big combo guard type. Then you'd need a combo forward was better on offense. As is we have two better options at PF in BBD and Powe and are more likely to have a backup guard (in House/Pruitt.) That means we'd need a wing off the bench who can compliment Pierce and Allen.
...I concur...the only minutes on this team are for a 2/3, Gomes is as 3/4...its not worth it for Gomes or for Boston...
i think you are discounting smallball.....and none of our 4s can play that perimeter 4 role in a small ball lineup...
i think Gomes makes a lot of sense now that he has extended his range to the three point line.
Posey was a 3/4, so why wouldn't another 3/4 be a logical fit with ready-made PT?
Posey is by far the best option, but Gomes would get lots of minutes if he was here.
