Giddens is giddy. ;)  Seriously, though, it's nice to see a kid so excited about joining the team.  He definitely is saying all the right things about his role.

Hat tip (and TP) to "Last Train", who posted this is the "get to know J.R." thread.  I figured it would get more attention here.

I think his reaction was 100% sincere and if the biggest question marks were his attitude and character then I am not very worried.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
JR Giddens is offically at plus 2 in my book. He started at zero.

To put that in perspective, BBD is a +15, powe is a +30, Paul Pierce and KG's numbers are uncalcuable, and Ricky Davis is a -75.

Seriously though, depending on what we see from this guy in the next 3 months I'd be pretty excited about what he can bring to the table starting game 1 of the season. Maybe he'll be our Rodney Stuckey.

It seems like a great communicator, and when he talks he talks substance. Not like Big Baby that he starts talking a lot of BS comes out lol, as entertaining as it might be.

He strung together about fourteen consecutive cliches.  He seems really excited, though.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

He definitely seems like a good kid and has the right attitude to come in and get along with Pierce, KG, etc.  I think Tommy will like him too (which never hurts).  He is a little awe-struck and on cloud 9 right now which has a good side but I think he is going to have to come back down some and show some confidence and determination to get on the court (this is way better than being cocky so don't take this the wrong way).  This is really the same for Pruitt as was described by Doc somewhere along the way here recently.  Pruitt needs to show more “fight” for sure and this is the year for him fight for a place on the team.  JRG may be just fine by the time he comes to camp but that would be my advice to him, be thankful and respectful but also be ready to fight and prove yourself to the coach and the veteran players.  Kind of like what Rondo has. Pruitt definite needs more of that and that is what JRG should be ready to do come camp.

True, but it comes off naturally and the emotions of what he's saying seem legit and real... that's substance for me. It's when those cliches are said for the sake of saying them (and you can tell when it's pure BS) that substance starts to lack... I think he really means what he's saying especially from where he has come from in his life.

Little offtopic but can JR dunk from the FT line?

In that video it kind of looks like it but it's not a great view.

Anyway, good stuff. He does seem sincerely excited about being drafted and I hope the kid does well with us. Depending on the TA situation he just might be our back-up two-guard.
