Game 6 against the Pistons: I liked this game because the Celtics came from behind to win the game on the road against a tough opponent. It answered any questions I had about the team regarding its ability to win on the road and to win close games. Plus, for any Cs fan who grew up in the 80s (and who went to college in Ann Arbor in the late 80s), beating the Pistons in Michigan is as sweet as it gets (short of beating LA in the finals of course).
I was infuriated by the foul that was called on Pierce when he shot the 3 pointer and it went in. However, in retrospect I think that is the moment in the playoffs that I am the proudest of regarding this team. As has been well documented by others, Pierce did not let his focus on the game be distracted by this atrocious call. Despite the loss of a 4 point play, the Cs went on to win and Pierce played great. As a long standing Cs fan and Paul Pierce fan, this was redemption for what happened a few years ago in Indiana and an answer to all the Paul Pierce critics.
I was at the playoff game against the Nets in 2002 when Pierce led the Cs to 21pt comeback in the 4th quarter. If I was not a Paul Pierce fan before that night, I certainly was after. He was always a driven/committed player and I am glad we all got to see what Pierce could do on a good team and that we got to see him mature as a person and a player these last few years under Rivers.
(One more note regarding the 2002 Nets game--a number of people who were sitting around us left the game early assuming it was over. They missed the greatest 4th quarter comeback in NBA history. I always remember that when someone wants to leave a game early.)
