So I was doing my morning look at all of the major websites to get all my info on tonights game, when I came across this article about Paul Pierce (http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8232956/Time-to-see-if-the-Truth-can-handle-L.A.).

Why do national media types always mis-cast Paul Pierce. I am sure many of you will agree with me, but Paul is one of the most misunderstood athletes of all time. The guy has given blood, sweat and tears to this team. The man could have left Boston behind after he was stabbed 11 times. Instead he was on the court weeks later playing in an EXHIBITION GAME! Everyone remembers the incident in Indiana, but this guy has played hurt and carried this team on his back for 10 freakin years! I have always believed that Paul is one of the top 15 players in the league. I am hoping that he gets this title. He deserves it more than any Boston athelete. He never demanded a trade and has always put up with everything that has come his way. Paul Pierce deserves to be a champion. Before people write articles they should know all the facts!

What do you people think? Am I right?

P.S. I always loved 'Toine too! So maybe I am jaded!

He does get a bad rap.  But it's just an LA writer upset that PP has outplayed their darling Kobe 2 out of 3 games and thus is up on LA 2-1.  They are just afraid that Paul is going to win a title over Kobe.

Don't sweat it though.  When the Celtics win the title, Paul will be laughing in their faces.

Pierce gets a bad rap because hardly anybody understands the Truth. Shaq didn't name him that for nuthin'. They think he's an easy target because he wears his heart on his sleeve. But people should know better. His incredible story makes him the most inspiring prominent athlete today. He learns from his mistakes, teaches by example & hones his character at every opportunity.

I think they are probably upset with PP because the man that gave Kobe 3 titles has more respect for PP than Kobe.

I'm intrigued by this but don't understand what you are getting at. Can you elaborate?

I agree that PP gets a bad rap.  It's frustrating.  I was particularly upset with his whole knee injury and how the Laker's coach and press basically referred to as a drama king and accused him of faking.  After watching almost every Celtic's game for 3 years - PP is the last guy to bring drama to any injury.  I can't believe some of the beatings he has taken out on the court and never whined and never complained. I can't believe some of the injuries he has played through - as he is right now with his knee. The guy is a warrior.

Paul Pierce has never dissed his team mates (unlike Kobe).  He has never publicly demanded a trade (unlike Kobe).  No reports of him mistreating women (unlike Kobe).  Never dissed his coach publicly (unlike Kobe).  He has been an unselfish team player even during the years we were losing (unlike Kobe). Yet Kobe is revered.

It is time Pierce got his due.

I never really thought of PP getting a bad rap at all, but seeing as how I live in New England maybe I don't hear that much stuff. I think for one thing there's the fact he lost in Kansas, didn't do so well in the Olympics, and lost a lot with the Celts including a badly timed playoff problem.  Also the trade issues and trying to get Iverson here at all costs maybe threw some people the wrong way

i think he got the bad rap because he got tossed from a playoff game against indiana i believe.
when he took off his jersy and threw it to the away fans.

i agree that paul is one of the best athletes by the way he contributes to this team. one of the best personalities watching him mature through his years in boston
