He might just be tired? No offense to anyone here, and I think Paul is awesome. He's my favorite player on this team and has given the Celtics everything he has in him. But sometimes players just get tired. It's tough to compete at a high level, then work out, then fly across the country and do it all over again (not that I'm speaking from experience). Let's all cheer him on in the next game and see what happens!

I'm sure the 7 hour flight from Boston to LA didn't help his leg either. Traveling that far with a major injury can't be fun. The foul trouble knocked off his rhythm too.

I expect a different game from him on Thursday.

Just a thought. It seems to me like paul began to loose a step after he took that spill early in the game when he wound up about 10 rows back in the crowd. Anyone else think this could be the reason for his poor performance?

Lets not take the Lakers approach and make excuses as to way the Cs lost and as to way Paul Pierce played so bad.  Paul just had in off night, he was due to have one off night.

Isn't "Paul just had an off night" an excuse as well?

Pierce beat his man whenever he attacked him off the dribble. Three times he drove on Radmanovic, two were layups the other was a foul on the Rad-man.

His knee is fine. His head is messed up.

More understanding and focus on how and where to attack (drive relentlessly) and he performs at a high level. Other than that he just had a bad jump shooting night.

He could get by his man, but his finishing reminded me of his play in Atlanta after that hard foul in game 3. Let's hope it's nothing.

i think it was game 2 actually, and i agree he was not finishing strong and didn't look like he could get that extra push off at the rim.....

here's hoping that it was just the foul trouble.

it also looks to me that LA is taking a page out of the Cavs play book and trying to win ugly.

didn't last nights game look like it was straight out of the CLE series..?

My girlfriend (who is 5'2" and has named herself "The Little Ticket") loves basketball. But halfway through the second quarter she was ready to walk away, being so disgusted of a replay of the Cavs series.

Awful to watch. Maybe it's better we lost that one. It won't end up on the championship DVD set.

FG/.

well,Pierce is my favorite player too, but last night i just couldn't watch him play...I mean,if he had done nothing, it would be better- he hurt his team!! I think he will be much better next game but,if he's really facing trouble with his injury,i expect him to say:"coach, let me out of this..."
As i said he's my favorite player and it hurts me to see him playing like this,i don't judge him just for last night's game but if he has a problem with his knee, that's the way it is,he got unlucky with the injury,he made quite an effort to overcome this...but the most important is the team to win!!However I still trust him and still want to see him kick Kobe's butt cuz he deserves it...
"Life has so many hurdles. Some of them I've hopped over, some of them I've tripped over. The key is to get back up and finish the race."- Paul Pierce

And he did finish...

Pierce will be fine. Coming from someone who has watched every pro game he has played, he tends to have games like this now and then, especially when they are not must win games. Unfortunately, he should play them as must win games, but he always loses his focus at least one game a series.

No having an off night means Paul Pierce is human.  He's been playing some really good ball as of late he was due to have a game like he did last night.  To say the reason why he played bad is because of an injury is an excuse.  To say he just had and off night it just another way of say he played bad.

I strained my meniscus last summer playing ball. I played for another month, fairly well, but occasionally my knee would get weak and I'd have no lift. My layups reminded me of Pierces attempt yesterday in the 4th quarter. As a side note, I ended up tearing mine because I continued to play on it.  :P

more I watch the game more I can't believe my eyes.

In the final play of 1st q with 1.3 sec remaining, Celts have a ball.

Rondo looks to inbound.

Pierce doesn't know where he is. doesn't go for the ball, doesn't make a block for incoming Posey, just staring there and looks like "what a hell, I'm not going to ruin my new sneakers for this"

Scary.

This is not him.

Get well soon, captain!

We need you

Pierce looked and played like he had aggravated his injury.

At times it looked like he was dragging his right leg along with him.  It was very apparent on that spin move at the end.  Normally he finishes that easily.
