I keep hearing the players as well as the coach talk about lacking energy on the road and needing to come out at a higher level, i know the coach should not have to motivate his players in a playoff game but perhaps Doc needs to do something to fire up the troops. I know he's a players coach and always tries to say the right thing but he needs to light a fire under this team right now. I have no idea what it was but i wanted to see him go ballistic on the team the other night for the way they were playing. Get angry at the team and let them see it, get tossed out of a blow out game like that to try to put some fire into them.

I remember a couple years ago Doc showed the team the Complete History of the Boston Celtics on DVD.  I remember a lot of the young guys saying it had a big impact on them.  I think he should do that again just before the game.  It will remind these guys what they are playing for and the oppurtunity that they have to become part of something special.

Doc, KG, Pierce, Allen, Perkins, Scali...

I really don't care who it is, but someone needs to light the road fire.

Maybe Doc should give them ..The Old TIME HOCKEY speech from Slapshot..

If they can get Rondo or Pierce off early that woulod be huge..Give Rondo carte blanche to go to the hoop every time West backs off of him

Because it's worked so great recently?

Rondo has no problems blowing by the guy who's guarding him, his issues commence when he gets to the rim, depending on who's waiting there.

Oh, and just for the record, when defenders back off of you, this usually means they guard against the drive, but give you the open jump shot...

All true but if Rondo continues to go to the basket he can dish..Game 3 especially he just passed up his shot and did not drive at all..Ideally he has to hit a few Js and make West play him.

What you have now is West and the goons just clogging the lane..Plus Rondo can pull up for a 10 footer in the lane..He does'nt have to hit 20 footers

Many things can be created by Rondo

I agree, as a principle, that we need to establish a game going to the basket. I am definitely giving anyone carte blanche to do anything. I am kind of tired of ill-advised drives where we dribble along the whole baseline just to kick it out to the three-point line and reset the whole offense with 10 on the clock.

Yes indeed.  He's been getting gobbled up pretty badly.  I was glad to see him throw one of those ball fakes again the other night.  At least let the shot blockers think twice.  Lebron caught one of Rondo's alyup the other night!

You say caught.. I say pinned it after it hit the back board..In fact IMO there were a couple other goal tends that did'nt get called either..Rondo has to get those up on the glass faster, use the rim to avoid the shot block, or lay the thing directly into the cylinder

Them celts were scared in road arenas. I mean, scared. I could see it in their eyes...they'd pass up shots they normally take. They need to remember, if you take a shot, it has 50% percent of chance to go in (generally statistically); but if you don't take it, it has 0%.

Why are they scared? Why? In the Atlanta series, after game 4, I started to miss Antonie Walker he may be crazy but he was never scared by the opponents or their crowds.

Sure we can win a championship without winning a road game, in theory, but can we please kick someone's ass in their own house? That's what great teams do. They kick their enemy's ass in their own house.

Don't be scared. Take that [dang] shot.
It's our job (fans) to point out what is wrong with the team, it's the coach's job NOT to listen to us.

That's right Big 3, we need to go in and kick Clevlenad's butt in game 4. I really don't get it with this team. They are easily as talented and moreso than this team and when that is the case you should have very little fear about the other team. It can be imposing playing in another teams house but it's also fun. Not that it's anything like the NBA obvioulsy but playing in High school ball in maine it was like  hoosier mentality. There is nothing to do in thsoe small towns so you'd go to another teams court and there would 3-4 thousand people in the gym so packed they literally lined the court, you'd bump into them if you flew off the court for any reason.

Those were games you looked forward to, even if the team was better than you because it was such a great challenge.

I don't ever remember feeling scared. I had more feelings like enjoying cloberring some player and listening to the crowd go off on you and being able to just look up and smile at them.

That's great stuff that kind of intensity.

In this case the celts having a better team top to bottom, you'd think they'd walk in there like they owned the place and then go out and play like it.

I don't really get it. These guys should be amped to play this game, not scared or hesitant. They should love this environment.

But you know, alot of the great players in the NBA always said they loved going into hostile arenas and sticking it to the other team.

I think it's a mental thing.

You know, I thought of that (Tommy's always harping on it), but he touched it before it hit the glass then pinned/caught it there.
