My sons and I ran into Delonte near government center shortly after the trade. He took the time to say hello and thanked us for our support, shook our hands and went about his business. He is and always will be a class act and a [dang] nice guy in my book. I'm happy to see him have success so that he can get a nice little contract when the season is over.

If Eddie doesn't come back and there's no one else that entices Danny's interest in a backup combo guard/PG I wouldn't mind seeing DWest back in green. I think the front office has very high hopes for Gabe Pruitt though. I think he will be given those minutes next year as Rondo will be entrenched as the starter and the coaching staff will feel confident enough to give Pruitt minutes knowing their PG is solid, unlike the beginning of this year where Rondo was a rook and a vet was needed as a backup just in case Rondo didn't develop.Besides giving those minutes to Pruitt is good long term for getting a solid youth base established on the team and in saving some money.

It's funny ... my step-brother went to school with him. He was on the baseball team at St. Joes. I met him once. From my experience and everything else I've heard from people who went to school with him, he was nothing but the opposite of "class act" or even "nice guy". Not throwing the guy under the bus, but it's funny how a few million will get you to shake some hands around boston.

Still can't believe he was dating that woman, who was what? 10 yrs older than him? who locked herself in the bathroom and tried to kill herself by slicing her wrists with broken glass from the mirror ...way to go delonte.

I went to school at SJU with D-West and I can tell you that in no way was he a bad guy. I'm not gonna go on with a love story but understand that this guy went as far as to get me b-ball shoes for free just because he could. He was friendly and much nicer than Jameer Nelson and ANYONE else on any of the sports teams at the school. The money didn't make or break him. He is a kid that loves basketball, family and poetry. Read up on him and follow his whole career and you would see this.

BTW...not discounting the fact that he may have treated some people in this world poorly. I'm sure no one in this blog can claim that they've been nice to everybody.

success of these guys may help future trade value of our other youngs, as Danny shows he has a good eye for talent - for every 3 D.West hits and every post move big al shows, Powe, Baby, TA, Pruitt all may have a tiny bit more credibility

Excellent, insightful, TP worthy point.

Celtics fan for life.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I'll always like Delonte, but I just don't see him lasting in the league. I think he is definitely good enough, but probably not to start, and many times he will end up as the third PG. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a very successful basketball career overseas.

He's the starting point guard for the foreseeable future in Cleveland.  It was the perfect landing spot for him.  On other teams, he'd be a back-up combo guard.  But on other teams Perk would be a back-up too.  It's all a question of the specific situation.

That's fine. But Delonte did treat me and my sons right and went beyond what many celebs around town have done. Until he treats me or my family poorly or does something stupid that my change my opinion(see Roger Clemens, Karl Malone, et al), he'll be okay in my book.
