The hand clapper thing gets my dog fired up, but I'll pass on them for game purposes.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Was anyone else relieved to see that the Celtics did not give out t-shirts?  I was really nervous that I would turn my TV on and see everyone with the same green shirt on.  I really dont like that trend in basketball and I'm glad we have (so far) not fallen for it.

Total agreement here.  I don't like that contrived stuff and would rather the crowd just get involved in a natural way (Jumbletron be [dang]ed).

Let's not forget that the C's are not foreign to this trend, the frequently have given out towels (my favorite), magnets, luggage tags, hey I even still have my Doc Rivers bobble head.

Definitely and I have a box of random Celtics stuff to show for it.  I just don't like the whole "white-out", "thundersticks", whatever deals that many teams do these days.  If the crowd happens to be green, so be it.  I'm probably a bit old school on this but I just don't like the "whole manufactured excitement" for lack of a better term.  It wasn't done back in the day and those crowds are still legendary for the loudness and enthusiasm.  The one thing I do like in the entrance stuff, though.

I can definitely agree with that, I feel much the same way about the cheerleaders and "Lil Phunk" (who I despise, yes I despise little kids). The thundersticks drive me nuts, I always seem to end up next to some kid who gets em and I end up having to ask his parents to make him stop. The only thing those things were good for was waking up my brother who sleeps too much.

  • LETS DO IT AGAIN!
I grabbed about 4 towels on Sunday night, but passed on the Danielson timer.  My friend grabbed one though.

I thought it was a joke until I saw the C's logo on it.

There were 2 girls next to me actually using them in the 4th quarter.

These towels were like the ones they gave out on opening night.
Difference was pretty much that they said playoffs on them.

I gave 2 towels away to 2 other season tix holders that are next to my seats...they didn't get any.

I would love a t-shirt....but we got the green towels, just like the Bruins did in Game 6.

I think it would be awesome.  Imagine if the entire crowd was just a sea of green.  Although I would hate to be accused of copying the Warriors.

The Celtics could never be accused of copying the Warriors, that's like the Red Sox being accused of copying the Marlins, just doesn't happen. The whole arena in Green shirts would be awesome, no other team has colors close to ours, would be pretty cool, and maybe even a little intimidating.

so you're saying because the celts have been around longer its impossible for them to copy someone else? or because they have a storied franchise? That makes no sense...they didn't copy the rest of the league with a mascot?  With a dance team?  And to compare the Warriors to the Marlins is insidious as the Warriors were one of the original NBA franchises (In Philly) right along with the Celtics... if the celts pass out green shirts they're just copying a popular trend in pro sports, not a bad thing, but to say its impossible for them to copy is silly

The Celtics will be giving out free green t-shirts before tomorrow night's game.

I actually am OK with the whole thing .... I think it shows spirit and unity, and gives people something special, something substantial, to remember the game with, or to take home to a friend or family member who can't be there. Besides, if you're a die-hard fan like me, you can never get too much green! I get the whole obnoxious, tacky stuff, I just think it's a worthwhile concession to make for the playoffs.

Not really a fan of the idea but I'll gladly take the free t-shirt.  ::)

They should have gone with imposing black and had the Celts strap on the old school black sneakers.

Yep, I'm still surprised that there are so many fans not in favor of this.  I've certainly watched the last couple of seasons of the Celtics-free playoffs at home thinking about how awesome it would be to have the New Garden looking like that -- a 'green-out' sounds fantastic by me, and I'm looking forward to seeing it through my television this evening...and hopefully being there for another one later in if we can pull through this....

I've personally loved that the first two games had so many people wearing green in the attendance, comparing it to the hawks home games, it seems pretty pathetic on their part how much our fans outnumbered them in terms of supporting their team.  I am very torn on the issue of giving out t-shirts becuause while I love getting a new celtics t-shirt (even though it is sure to have promotions all over it), at the same time I love seeing the wide variety of different celtics shirts and jerseys people have.
