I think he would be resistant to playing the five.   A lot of these modern bigs do not like playing center.  Davis, Giannis are prime examples, they are capable of this position but it is not their position of preference.  Embiid was bombing threes during our series, until they noticed our weakness than he played Center.

I mean, if he cares about winning, which it sounds like he does, I?d be surprised if he wouldn?t play some mins at Center. He has done it before.

Giannis doesn't like it. He is reluctant more than unwilling to play center. He likes playing next to another big man. That way he can play free safety on defense. Roam around. Leave to the center to protect the basket. Doesn't take as much of a beating on his body banging with bigger guys. Gets to defend more perimeter guys.

I agree Giannis should switch to center for this next period of his career. He had a great partner in B Lopez. Hard to replicate that although MIL did a great job getting M Turner. Few, if any, teams around the league will get him a center who can defend & spread the floor as well as those two guys can. Giannis is better playing center next to a natural PF who can spread the floor - easier fit to find.

Tatum (PF) and Giannis (C) would be incredibly difficult to matchup against. Reminds me of Durant & Giannis as an All-Star pairing. I guess opposing teams would hide their big on the SF or SG. Would Hauser start? Probably.

G: Pritchard
G: D White
F: Hauser
F: Tatum
C: Giannis

Hauser would be the only guy who can't create off the dribble. But he will spread the floor at an elite level.

Thing is, there really aren?t too many big bruising centers in the league anymore. In the East you have Embiid and Duran. That?s about it.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Giannis absolutely CAN NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE YOUR STARTING CENTER.

Already this year we saw him struggle mighty with lower body injuries, asking him to be a 30% USG guy while also being your defensive anchor is a recipe for complete disaster.

There is a reason he's always paired with shooting center like Lopez/Turner, and it not just because he wants to play PF. Its because asking a guy to be your bets offensive player and best defensive player at the most important defensive position going into his 30's is not a sustaianble approach.

Nic Claxton solves a lot of issues. Don't think the core needs to be broken up to fix this team.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Playing C is way more physical defense than guarding PF most of the time.   This would not apply to some PF, like Paul Silas.

I like the Claxton idea but how do you propose we make it happen.

By that logic, Embiid shouldn?t be playing center either.
