I think all in all in the little he's played he'd been fine defensively, maybe even good at times. he can certainly be a decent cog in a switch heavy defense.

The main problem with him is he gives you absolutely nothing on offense. He's a career 24% shooter from three so he's not a floor stretcher. Isn't a lob threat. Not really an offensive rebound put back guy either. Not a play making hub. he has no discernable offensive skill. Unless he hits shots that makes him hard to play.

His problem is he is a tweener, without exceptional athletic ability to make up for his height.  While he has a good wingspan of 7-2 a lot of his is from his shoulders not his arm length.   His standing reach was 8-10.  His no step vertical when drafted was 26"  and max vertical was 32.5".  He weighed 265 Lbs back then in 20-21 draft, but his athletic abilities this may have been helped as his current weight is 245lbs.

A big part of his D, is being a human wall that can make people bounce off of him like Aron Baynes.  Tillman really was never a block threat or the like but will have to chest up people and hold his position.  So his defense is really nothing like Al Horford in terms of how he plays D.

There are going to be a lot more opportunities to get rebounds with Tatum out.  I think his best overall year was 23-24.

Probably will back up Niang at PF. Brad said today they view him more as a PF.

If Niang is our starting PF, this is a tank year.

My darkhorse to start at PF is Josh Minott. A Swiss Army knife kind of player that plays good defense and sneaky upside.

Assuming the Celtics want to trade Niang, it?s probably in their best interest to start him. Even if he?s just playing 20 MPG

Yep. And the only thing he does well is the one thing Joe values the most...shooting the 3.
