All this talk about Derrick to the warriors. I don't think Brad's very interested in that. But if you guys wanna take Jrue holiday and give us some young assets, I think they have to consider it.

When Tatum comes back I actually like the look of this team.

Yes. Definitely.

3 good young players for 1 old player.

Jrue would be nice on that Warriors team.

A three man defensive combo of Jrue, Jimmy & Draymond. A three man perimeter crew in terms of ball-handling & passing in Jrue, Steph and Jimmy. Plus, Draymond. The teamwork of those 4 guys together would be special.

Huge loss of supporting cast talent though. 3 quality rotation players. One definite long term guy (Podz). 2 maybe long term guys (Kuminga, TJD).

G: Steph, G Payton II
G: Jrue, Moody
F: Jimmy, Hield
F: Draymond, Gui Santos
C: Q Post, Looney

Center rotation might be the worst in the league. Certainly the worst among playoff teams.

There is enough bench depth to make it work though. The 3 for 1 swap I mean. There is enough of a bench leftover.

When Tatum comes back I actually like the look of this team.

I fear Kuminga will run into similar problems in our offense as he did in Golden State. His lack of passing & shooting combined with tendency to play iso ball makes him a tough fit. It will be okay while Tatum is out because we will be short of shot creation so fitting him in will be fine.

But once Tatum comes back. Tatum as #1, Jaylen as #2. How well does Kuminga find his offense playing behind those 2 in the pecking order? Not just behind them in the pecking order but off of them. Kuminga is not a good off-ball player.

Kuminga might be a good option as one of those buy low sell high players. Buy him now when there is a clear fit for him on the roster. Trade him in the following off-season after Tatum has returned. Kuminga boosts his value getting 35mpg and probably 18-20ppg while Tatum is out. Boston can get a better fitting supporting player who is more comfortable playing off of Jaylen & Tatum.

Yes. I'd play Kuminga 35 mpg, build up his value, and trade him once Tatum comes back for a nice haul. He can probably average 19 and 8.

To make the trade work you would have to abide by the 125% rule - correct?  If so Kuminga would have to be signed for northward of 20 mil/yr - so not much lux tax/apron lessening initially - more financial savings would have to come in the next trade cycle when Kuminga could be traded away.

Yes and Boston can't acquire players sign and traded anyway.  A third team would have to take Kuminga for the trade to work
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I guess it's technically possible (trade Hauser into cap space and waive and stretch Porzingis). But then you are basically at the 1st apron, so you have to take back a few million less than you are sending out. If the result of the trade brings you below the 1st apron, then you can receive a s&t.

I played around with this in another thread.  My assumption is that Kuminga would be a S&T in the $25M to $30M range.  I don't think Kuminga makes sense for BOS on that contract, but I came up with a 3-team version of the same idea:

GSW
In:  Holiday (from BOS)    Out:  Kuminga (S&T to WAS), Hield (to BOS)

BOS
In:  Hield (from GSW), Bey (from WAS)   Out: Holiday (to GSW)

WAS:
In:  Kuminga (S&T from GSW)   Out:  Bey (to BOS)

BOS ends up with Hield and Bey for about $15M, saving quite a bit but not totally gutting the team.  With these players and Hauser, you would have realistic options to make additional trades at the dead line to get quite a bit lower if that is what you wanted to do for next season (2025-26).  Also give some flexibility in the following off season (2026-27) if you need to cut salary to sign Porzingis and stay under the 2nd Apron.

For GSW, I think by sending out Hield, than can take on Holiday and stay under the 2nd Apron.  Curry, Butler, and Holiday give them a solid core to compete for a couple of seasons of the Curry-Butler window (which will close rapidly).  WAS gets a decent young player to add to their mix.

I?m in agreement with Kuminga?s lack of feel of the game. Though I?m not sure by boosting his per game numbers will change his value all that much if most teams see what we see. Sort of like Kyle Kuzma recently. His per game stats didn?t really make him sought after.

Zero interest in Kuminga. He can?t shoot. I doubt Brad would be interested in him.
