I do wonder if Al retires after this season if they win the title.

They're be some beautiful career synergy in him finishing his college career with back to back national titles and wrapping up his pro career with back to back NBA titles.

My prediction is he retires anyways. I would love to see him play into his early 40s off the bench and think he still can, but I think the motivation for him to play is probably like you said, the potential of winning back-to-back. If they don't win it this year, he's already accomplished a lot and won in 2024.

Now if they do win it again though, could they be thinking "three-peat"?

It's a theory I hope is tested.  It would be a good off-season if we're discussing Al's retirement after a second title.

I wonder if it would depend on ownership's direction.  If we're keeping the team together, I could see Al come back for a 3peat chance.  Meanwhile, if we're selling off pieces, I can see him starting to write his HOF acceptance speech.
