The interest in Celtics history isn't shocking given where he's from.  However, although I've heard Scal mention him during broadcasts, I didn't realize that he had as significant a role in promoting Flagg as the article indicates.

"They were just playing good team basketball, playing the right way, moving the ball and just picking their spots," Flagg says, a simple quote that, in reality, serves as a window into ideals that are marrow-deep for him.

The next time people complain about athletes giving stock non-answers, remember that they do this not only because it's easier (and drillable, like sets) but because people like Baxter Holmes have an easier time grafting whatever meaning they want onto actual quotes.

Fun article, though. I never really thought that there would be places where high school hoops aren't a huge deal - my parents haven't had school-aged kids in a long time and they still go watch the games every year.

I read through most of it.  It is a great story and I feel like we were all way ahead of this story thanks to Roy.  I think there should be some special rule implemented that since Cooper is so clearly a perfect fit for the Celtics organization, that he should be allowed to become a Celtic.  BOS can forfeit a couple of first round picks for the trouble.

Think how much better it would be for the league if Flagg ended up on the Celtics over say TOR or UTA or whatever.  I am just trying to do what is best for the league.   ;)

"Have a nice day," he said, making eye contact that displayed a maturity beyond his years, and epitomizing the small-town virtues that, barring the unexpected, will earn him a display in Springfield.
