Obviously, if you can trade Brown and pieces to get Luka, that is ideal.  Same to get Embiid.

Since those are extremely unlikely, Brown for Towns might make sense, but I'd imagine pairing Towns with Robert Williams may have the same result as pairing Towns with Gobert.

I like the idea of Lillard for Brown, but there is a huge age and durability discrepancy.

How about Brown for Trae Young?  I know we lose a lot defensively, but maybe we can actually get a shot maker and a player who can create offense for others.  This would clear up a lot of redundancy for both teams.

While we're at it, can we somehow add other pieces, like Grant Williams and Brogdon for Collins?  I am not sure how the money works, but I see Atlanta as a viable option where both teams can improve from a deal.

Yeah, it would. I have no interest in Towns in any position other than center. He is a five. He needs to play there.

And he is special at the five. His skill-level is off the charts. His variety of scoring and elite shooting is spectacular. He is also a very good passer and facilitator for others.

He makes his teammates better on offense. Not on defense. But on offense, he does make his teammates better. He creates so much defensive confusion with his shooting range & accuracy that he creates space for others to exploit. Whether that is ball-handlers or cutters. And Towns is extremely unselfish on offense combined with good vision and passing skills helps him setup his teammates.

His bad defense is over-stated. He is closer to average than bad. Surround him with strong defenders and it won't be much of an issue.

Think of Towns similar to Trae Young. Many of us are willing to make allowances for Trae's lousy D (worst in the league among high minute players) due to his spectacular offense. Yet, we are not willin to make the same allowance for Towns (who is a much better defender than Trae) based on Towns' spectacular offense.

I think Rob's ability to defend on the perimeter would make him a better fit with KAT. You can play KAT as a traditional 5 and slide Rob to the 4 (Timelord is actually undersized so it's not the craziest thought).

A Smart/White/Tatum/Rob/KAT starting lineup isn't my least favorite idea.

Probably because not only is he very bad at defense, but he's bad wghile playing the most important defensive position. He's also starting a supermax extension after next yera, so they arent trading Brown for him because his money has excatly the same issues Browns supermax would.

I think that is better for Rob on defence too. Rob is at his best when he isn't matched up to the biggest opponent, and can float around altering shots. KAT was on a podcast the other day talking about how he had to lose 15 or so pounds to play the 4. Let KAT get up to his natural 260-265lbs, and let Rob rotate over to help him as needed.

Rob is also a much better passer than Gobert, and is a better finisher inside.
