I'd go back to San Antonio and trade 2 second round picks for Richardson.

Giving up who, though?

I'd love to see him get bought out, but barring that we can't easily match salaries unless you're dumping one of our top-8 players.

TPE?

Richardson's contract is about twice as big as our TPE.

Probably not going to happen.

Boston has made a priority out of ball movement, such that the rotation features not one, not two, but three good-sized ballhandlers to create shots off the dribble and connect the ball on the court. It's been a hugely successful experiment; all that ball movement has led to a ton of wide-open shots, and a whole lot of space for Jayson Tatum to operate in.

JT's free throw rate is a stratospheric .397, almost a hundred points higher than last year.

Richardson (much like Aaron Nesmith, and not incidentally), while he's a good shooter, doesn't do that - doesn't create for others off the dribble, is not unselfish but not a connector either.

This is a Cam Reddish thread, but it's more interesting to talk about why Jason Richardson is not such a good fit.

'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

If you can grab Reddish for very little he'd be in a nice low-pressure spot backing up Tatum and Brown. His Combine measurements are: 6'8 with shoes, 208 pounds, 7'0 1/2 wingspan, 8'9 1/2 standing reach, 4.7% body fat. He's still only 23.
